We are hiring Case Workers for an immediate federal government contract supporting the safety and well-being of vulnerable youth across the United States. This is a field-based, nationwide travel role based out of Hampton Roads, Virginia. If you're looking for a desk job, this isn't it. Position Summary The Case Worker is responsible for conducting field-based case management activities in support of a federal Safety Verification Initiative for vulnerable youth. This role focuses on verifying client location, assessing safety and well-being, and documenting case outcomes to support the protection of at-risk youth and families. The Case Worker performs in-person visits, collects and validates data, and ensures timely reporting in accordance with program requirements. Essential Duties Verify youth client addresses using databases and available records, ensuring accuracy and identifying valid residential locations Conduct in-person site visits to confirm client location and document findings, including cases where individuals are not located Perform follow-up visits and additional research as needed to resolve incomplete or conflicting case information Assess client living conditions and overall well-being, identifying and documenting indicators of abuse, neglect, abandonment, or trafficking Immediately report safety concerns to designated program authorities in accordance with required timelines and protocols Collect, document, and maintain accurate case data including client demographics, location status, household composition, and school enrollment Enter and update case information in designated systems of record within established timeframes, ensuring completeness and accuracy Communicate with clients and sponsors to provide information on legal obligations, reporting requirements, and program expectations in a language-appropriate manner Coordinate with program leadership and stakeholders to provide status updates and support case resolution and closure Required Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent Experience working with vulnerable populations such as child welfare; foster, adoption, or family preservation programs; juvenile justice or probation services; immigration services; case management or social services; or related field Experience collecting, documenting, and maintaining accurate case records Ability to report or escalate safety concerns in accordance with established protocols and timelines Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously, including follow-up actions and resolution of incomplete or conflicting information Must be willing and able to travel frequently to locations across the United States — travel is a core, ongoing requirement of this position, not occasional Desired Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Sociology, Human Services, or related field Spanish/English bilingual proficiency (strongly preferred given client population) Experience conducting field-based casework, including site visits and client interviews Experience assessing client safety and living conditions for indicators of abuse, neglect, abandonment, or trafficking Strong written and verbal communication skills with diverse audiences Experience handling sensitive and confidential information in accordance with established policies Conditions of Employment Must be a U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident with proper authorization to work in the United States (Form I-551) Successful completion of pre-employment screening: citizenship check, employment authorization, criminal background check, credit/financial check, education verification, and employment references DHS Background Investigation (e-APP, fingerprinting, Public Trust Investigation) and Continuous Vetting under Trusted Workforce 2.0 Certificates/Licenses Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state-issued driver's license Eligible to obtain and maintain state licensure or certification in Social Work, Counseling, Human Services, Behavioral Health, or related disciplines as applicable Work Environment Field-based role operating in residential and community settings across the United States Home base: Hampton Roads, Virginia — cases may be located anywhere in the country Travel is frequent and nationwide — this is not a local position Site visits may occur during evening hours as case assignments require All travel expenses fully reimbursed at federal GSA rates (lodging, meals, transportation)
Pay:
$28.00 - $35.00 per hour
