The Intake Worker II for Dane County will provide oversight and coordination of all clients, intake staff, volunteers, and activities.
About the role:
Manages, coordinates, and oversees all shift operations, taking appropriate action to facilitate efficient operation involving program participants, staff, property and supportive services. Adjusts shelter advocate schedules. Trains and assists staff and volunteers regarding policies, procedures and record keeping. Provide input to management on shelter advocate performance. Conducts intake interviews for new shelter residents. Monitors room assignments and distributes basic necessities. Provides necessary supervision of shelter and residents, assuring that rules and policies are being followed. Assist with client needs, refer to case manager as appropriate. Provide de-escalation and crisis response. Answers telephone calls, taking messages when appropriate. Maintain cleanliness of shelter common areas. Assist with food service preparations and serving. Ensures shift is documented according to procedures. Performs room inspections. Supervises volunteers, when assigned.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent; Associates degree preferred
Experience:
Two years' experience in Human Services desired, with one year of experience working with the homeless population. Management experience helpful. The Salvation Army is an equal opportunity employer. Non-Exempt Employees:
Health, dental, vision, and hearing benefits, as well as basic and voluntary life benefits, will begin on the first day of the month following 90 days of employment. If the completion of a 90-day waiting period occurs on the first day of the calendar month, coverage will begin on that day. Full-time employees scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week will be eligible for full benefits, including health, dental, vision and hearing benefits, basic and voluntary life benefits, holiday pay and paid time off, which is pro-rated based on their regularly scheduled work week.
