Neqpiaput Iinruugut Community Coordinator & Interventionist - Grant 3.5 3.5 out of 5 stars Neqpiaput Iinruugut Community Coordinator & Interventionist - Grant Alakanuk, Alaska We are working together to achieve excellent health. The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization, serving nearly 30,000 people living across rural, southwest Alaska in villages with populations from about 10 to more than 1,000. Bethel, the regional hub and location of the only hospital in the region, has a population of nearly 7,000. The Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta is home to thousands of lakes and two primary rivers—the Kuskokwim and Yukon. We offer a broad range of employment opportunities and the chance to make a meaningful impact on the health of people in the region. The Grant-Funded Community Coordinator & Interventionist will be a local contact/spokesperson working from their village to promote the "Neqpiaput Iinruugut Research Study" goals and objectives. This individual will be required to work closely with the YKHC Health Research Department, YKHC's Nuyailnguq Calricaraq Consultant (and Study co-principal investigator), Research Study Staff and relevant community partners within our service area to promote the goals of the research study. This individual will be required to work with tribal councils and community stakeholders and engage local community members. The individual will also be responsible for connecting with Elders and organizing events/activities in their local community to promote the Neqpiaput Iinruugut work. The individual must be able and willing to engage others within the community and proven ability to have discussions with other individuals or small groups on Elder guidance, regarding health topics/behavior change. Specific requirements for this research study: This individual must be: A member of the community and living in the community where activities are taking place Able to speak both Yupik and English Able and willing to organize events coordinate among different groups Able and willing to use technology to track, report, and improve the work
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Education High school equivalent preferred but not required Minimum Experience Experience working within the community or some knowledge of local community. Must have engaged others in the community for some purpose, preferably health-related, and be someone who is able to speak to others both individually and in groups. Previous experience in community work, teaching or Health education specifically Calricaraq, is preferred. License, Certification, Registration Calricaraq Facilitator training certificate required within the first year. Equipment/Tools May be required to conduct some travel in sub-arctic conditions. Should have average knowledge of computer/laptop use Specialized Knowledge and Skills Excellent verbal communication skills. Good public speaking and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of local community required and proficiency in Yup'ik will be a significant advantage. Able to demonstrate competency in Neqpiaput Iinruugut workshop facilitation and Elder guided Calricaraq administration through observed competency Supervisory Responsibilities None C#
