Full Job Description Job Purpose:
The Organizer is responsible for advancing Planned Parenthood Arizona's (PPAZ) community engagement goals by building and mobilizing a strong base of volunteers, activists, and supporters. This role blends grassroots organizing with volunteer coordination, ensuring community members are equipped and empowered to advocate for reproductive freedom, access to healthcare, and broader social justice. The Organizer will recruit, train, and support volunteers, manage ongoing engagement programs and execute political and electoral field campaigns for Planned Parenthood Advocates of Arizona (PPAA).
Key Responsibilities:
Build relationships with community leaders and organizations to promote Planned Parenthood's mission. Plan and execute events, workshops, and rallies to raise awareness and support for reproductive health issues. Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to assist with outreach and advocacy efforts. Develop and implement strategies to increase community engagement and support. Collaborate with the communications team to create and distribute educational materials. Monitor and analyze local policy developments that impact reproductive health and rights. Represent Planned Parenthood at community meetings and events to advocate for policy changes. Maintain accurate records of outreach activities and report on progress and outcomes.
Required Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required. A bachelor's degree in social sciences, communications, or a related field is a plus.
Required Experience:
1+ years' experience in organizing community events or activities. Proven track record of working with diverse communities. Familiarity with reproductive health issues and advocacy is preferred. Experience in outreach and volunteer coordination is a bonus.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with a wide range of people. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and projects. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Proficiency in using social media platforms for event promotion. Enthusiastic and passionate about Planned Parenthood's mission and values. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for events.
