The Outreach Ministry Coordinator reports directly to the
Pastor Position Type:
Non-Exempt, Hourly, 20 hours per week
POSITION SUMMARY
The Community Outreach Ministry Coordinator provides hands-on coordination of the church's outreach ministry operating within a faith-based nonprofit model vision. They collaborate with Church Council Community Impact Team for guidance, planning, accountability, and ministry coordination, while conducting assigned community outreach responsibilities with appropriate independence and regular communication. This role exists to extend the church's mission into the community while working within a limited budget and lean structure.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
 Support the development and coordination of outreach ministry and programs by o Building relationships and partnerships with individuals and organizations within the surrounding community to identify needs and resources o Developing and resourcing new outreach ministries based on identified needs assessment o Identify synergies with current community impact ministries  Identify, mobilize, and support needed volunteers  Develop and track essential metrics
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Program Development and Coordination  Coordinate current outreach ministries and newly developed ministries and ensure they are aligned with the church's mission and values  Evaluate community needs and develop relevant services, programs, and activities  Oversee day-to-day operations of the outreach ministries  Ensure ministries are serving individuals and families in need with compassion, dignity, and excellence 2. Community Engagement & Partnerships  Build and maintain working relationships with local organizations, nonprofits, churches, schools, and service agencies  Represent the church in community meetings and collaborations  Identify opportunities for joint programs and resource sharing 3. Volunteer Coordination  Support the recruitment, training, and support of volunteers from the congregation and community  Provide ongoing communication and appreciation 4. Administration & Reporting  Prepare regular updates for church leadership  Maintain accurate records, reports, and program data to track participation, outcomes, and impact  Help develop and manage a modest outreach budget  Support grant applications or fundraising efforts (as applicable)
QUALIFICATIONS 1.
Education & Experience  Bachelor's degree preferred (ministry outreach, social work, nonprofit management, or related field)  2-5 years experience in community outreach, nonprofit work, or ministry leadership strongly preferred  Experience managing programs or volunteers strongly preferred  Relevant lived experience and demonstrated service leadership may substitute for formal education 2. Skills & Competencies  Strong organizational and problem-solving skills in low-resource environments  Ability to lead and motivate volunteers effectively  Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities  Basic administration, recordkeeping, and computer skills  Fundraising/Grant writing skills preferred 3. Spiritual & Personal Requirements  Alignment with the church's mission, values, and statement of faith  Demonstrated commitment to service, compassion, and integrity  Ability to represent the church in a positive and professional manner 4. Work Schedule & Expectations  Flexible schedule based on ministry outreach requirements (may include some evenings or weekends for programs or events)  Combination of administrative work and active program participation  Use of church facilities and shared resources when appropriate  High collaboration with church leadership and volunteers
COMPENSATION
Hourly:
$20-24per hour

LANGUAGE
 Bi-lingual Spanish (preferred)
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in a professional office environment, in church facilities and in locations outside the main office when conducting outreach ministry/programs. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is a semi-active role and, at times, requires the ability to walk up and down a flight of stairs.
TRAVEL:
 Travel between NUMC Office and outreach ministry activities and outreach to the community is required.  Able to travel with own transportation to all areas within the Greater Bridgeport area
