Full Time, Exempt (Temporary Position) Reports to: Prevention Center Program Director Sasha Bruce Youthwork is the leading provider of homeless youth services in the DC region. Founded in 1974, Sasha Bruce Youthwork (SBY) works to improve the lives of runaway, homeless, abused, and neglected youth and their families in the DC region. We achieve this by providing shelter, counseling, life skills training, and positive youth development activities to over 15,000 youth and their families each year. With 48 years of experience meeting the growing needs of DC's youth and families with innovative programs, SBY is committed to ending youth homelessness once and for all. About this Position The YPLC Coordinator will be a dynamic and passionate individual committed to empowering youth and preventing substance use. The coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the YPLC program, including youth engagement, training, and community outreach.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive recruitment strategy to engage youth in the YPLC program. Coordinate and facilitate YPLC meetings, workshops, and events. Provide training and mentorship to youth and young adult participants on substance use prevention, leadership development, and community engagement. Develop and implement community outreach initiatives to raise awareness about substance use prevention and the YPLC program. Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, schools, and stakeholders. Collect and report data on program activities and outcomes. Attend relevant conferences and trainings to stay abreast of current trends and best practices in youth development and substance use prevention. Represent Ward 5&6 DC Prevention Center and SBY at community events and meetings. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in social work, public health, education, or a related field. Experience working with youth, particularly those experiencing homelessness or housing instability. Knowledge of substance use prevention and youth development principles. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Passion for SBY's mission and commitment to youth empowerment.
