Communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse populations Organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks in high-pressure situations Knowledge of disaster recovery programs and resources, including government and non-government assistance programs Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Job Description:
The Disaster Community Outreach Advocate will play a role in serving individuals and families affected by disasters by providing humanitarian assistance, including, but not limited to, distribution of food, water, basic needs, health safety, and employment and as well as providing advocacy assistance to resources for community and business owners impacted by the Hurricane. The position will focus on connecting people with resources, providing one-on-one support, and fostering education, mobilization and promote entrepreneurship and advocacy to build our communities. This role involves collaborating with local & statewide agencies, government programs, and community organizations to ensure that the community receives the necessary support to recover effectively from disaster events.
Responsibilities:
Resource Navigation:
Assist individuals and families affected by disasters navigate available resources, ensuring they are connected to the appropriate services for recovery, including financial assistance, housing support, health services, and other community-based resources
One-on-One Support:
Provide personalized assistance and case management to individuals and families, guiding them through the recovery process and offering ongoing support to address barriers to recovery
Advocacy:
Serve as an advocate for disaster survivors, ensuring their needs are met and their voices are heard, involving identifying and addressing gaps in services and working to raise awareness of the challenges faced by disaster survivors
Education:
Conduct community outreach and educational programs on disaster preparedness, recovery, and available resources, including organizing workshops, webinars, and information sessions to empower community members Collaboration with
Agencies:
Work closely with government and non-profit agencies, such as FEMA, Red Cross, and local community organizations, to coordinate disaster recovery efforts and ensure a recovery process for those impacted in compliance with standards
Data Tracking and Reporting:
Maintain correct records of interactions with clients, resources provided, and outcomes; Provide regular reports to management on the status of recovery efforts, challenges, and successes
Crisis Management:
Respond to immediate needs during and after disasters, offering crisis intervention and support to individuals in need of urgent assistance

Days & Hours:
Full-Time position. Days of operation are Sunday through Saturday; days and hours will vary; 8:00am to 10:00pm; 1 st , 2 nd & 3 rd shift available; 40 hours per week. Complete work schedule will be discussed with applicant.
