Job Description:
The company is looking for a Disaster Resource Navigator for its Fishing for Resilience Initiative . This community-focused program aims to support families, schools, and communities post-hurricane disasters. The program uses fishing as a therapeutic tool to assist in restoring unity, reducing trauma, easing anxiety, and providing stress relief, with the goal of fostering community healing and resilience during challenging times. The position will involve working closely with local families, businesses, and community organizations to ensure that resources are efficiently distributed, and the community's needs are met in the aftermath of a disaster.
Humanitarian Assistance and Recovery Support:
Provide assistance to disaster-impacted families and businesses in accessing recovery resources such as personal identification recovery, and disaster unemployment resources Act as a liaison between affected residents and recovery entities, ensuring that families are connected with the necessary support services Assist residents navigating the difficulties of recovery systems, offering guidance and advocacy as needed
Resource Identification and Distribution:
Identify families and individuals in need of support, ensuring that resources such as fishing gear, food, and educational materials are distributed effectively Coordinate the delivery of these resources to various locations, ensuring that all families have access to the necessary items
Partnership and Collaboration:
Establish and maintain partnerships with local businesses, nonprofits, and other organizations to secure donations, sponsorships, and resources necessary for the program's success Work with local fishing shops, educational centers, and community leaders to promote the initiative and gather support
Inventory Management and Event Coordination:
Oversee the management of the inventory, ensuring that all supplies, including fishing gear and other community resources, are accounted for and ready for distribution Coordinate transportation and logistics for events and resource distributions, ensuring timely execution Work closely with event organizers to support the smooth operation of community events, providing assistance where needed
Community Engagement and Support:
Engage with local communities, building relationships that encourage long-term healing and resilience Provide emotional support during the recovery process, utilizing fishing events as opportunities for mental health relief and community bonding Adapt strategies as needed based on feedback from the community, ensuring the program evolves to meet the needs of families
Work Environment:
The role offers the possibility to work remotely when applicable The position may involve travel to local disaster-affected areas This role will require the ability to work varying work hours, including occasional evenings or weekends to accommodate community events and disaster recovery needs Disaster Relief Specialists will need to have the ability to work both in the field and remotely, supporting families, schools, and local organizations
