The First Responder - Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (FR-CARA) grant supports overdose prevention efforts by partnering with first responders, community agencies, and individuals at risk of experiencing or witnessing an overdose. The Training Hub grant supports local public health professionals in environmental health training. This position will focus on expanding outreach in multiple languages, providing harm-reduction education and resources, and coordinating the organization of Health Department outreach and training efforts. Duties 1. Outreach & Engagement Conduct community-based outreach in designated service areas. Provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed engagement with individuals who use substances. Assist with events such as health fairs and any other community events hosted by the New Bedford Health Department and or other partner organizations (may be outside of regular business hours). Support reviewing and updating social media and website for Training Hub. Participate in translation and interpretation team. 2. Naloxone Training, Distribution & Harm Reduction Distribute naloxone kits and provide overdose response education. Provide bilingual trainings to community members on overdose prevention. Provide harm-reduction supplies and information to community groups. Participate in meetings, trainings, and event coordination meetings 3. Data Collection, and Organization of Coordination Efforts Document and organize outreach events, activities, and interactions for the Health Department. Maintain accurate naloxone distribution logs. Support FR-CARA reporting and data tracking. Support grant documentation and event management for Training Hub, including registration and preparation of supplies as needed. The individual will be responsible for organizing and coordinating office swags and entering outreach event data into a shared Teams list. 4. Perform related duties as assigned. Qualifications Bilingual or multilingual; fluency in at least one language other than English - Spanish preferred Ability to speak, read, and write English. Professional, positive attitude and work ethic. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Demonstrated cultural competency with expertise working with diverse, multi-lingual individuals and communities. Ability to show empathy; interact with community members and leaders.[NV1] Knowledge of harm reduction and non-judgmental engagement. Ability to work independently in community settings. Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and multi-task, and excellent attention to detail. Literacy in computer software including Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
