Summary The Outreach Coordinator helps promote People's Food Co-op both in-store and throughout the community. This role supports sales growth, membership growth, and community engagement through marketing, events, communication, and outreach efforts that reflect the Co-op's mission and values. Key Responsibilities Maintain a consistent and engaging social media presence. Coordinate marketing materials including signage, coupons, advertising, newsletters, and promotional campaigns. Assist with member communication and outreach efforts. Help organize and promote Co-op events, educational programming, and community partnerships. Represent the Co-op at community events and outreach opportunities. Support membership growth initiatives and help communicate the benefits of Co-op membership. Work collaboratively with departments to maintain consistent branding and messaging. Respond thoughtfully to customer and member questions, feedback, and concerns. Support volunteer, sponsorship, and donation initiatives as directed. Stay informed about topics related to cooperatives, local food systems, sustainability, and community engagement. Assist the General Manager and Board of Directors with communication and event support as needed. Qualifications Experience in marketing, outreach, communications, customer service, or community engagement preferred. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Comfortable using social media platforms and digital communication tools. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects. Interest in cooperative values, local food, and community-centered work. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or related field; OR equivalent professional experience. Familiarity with cooperatives, local food systems, or mission-driven organizations is a plus.
Requirements:
Physical Requirements & Work Environment The Outreach Coordinator role involves a combination of office, retail, and community-based work. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position. This position regularly requires communicating with customers, staff, vendors, and community members in person, over the phone, and digitally. The role may involve standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and using computers and other office equipment for extended periods of time. Occasional lifting, carrying, or moving of materials and event supplies up to 50 pounds may be required. The position may also involve setting up signage, displays, tables, or event materials both inside and outside the store. Work is primarily performed in a retail grocery environment with a moderate noise level, along with occasional off-site community events. The employee must be available to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
