Kent County Community Action is hiring a Senior Center Specialist (Bilingual

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and leadcreative, recreational, and educational activities that support wellness and social connection. Serve as the primary contact for participants, volunteers, and community partners. Provide friendly, bilingual support (English/Spanish) to participants. Coordinate logistics for classes, events, and transportation. Promote programs through outreach and digital/print communications. Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers. Maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all.

What You Bring:

Strong communication and organizational skills. Experience working with older adults and diverse communities. Ability to communicate fluently (verbal and written) in Spanish and English. Ability to lead activities and build community partnerships.

Schedule:

This is a part-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m

Typical Day:

Set up the space for the day's activities and meal service Welcome participants as they arrive, assist with sign-in, and create a warm, inclusive atmosphere Lead or facilitate a scheduled activity (e.g., craft activity, game, or health education session) Support meal service by coordinating with kitchen staff and assisting participants as needed Engage with participants one-on-one to build relationships and identify needs or interests Communicate in Spanish and English to ensure all participants feel included and supported Coordinate with volunteers, providing guidance and support throughout the day Handle phone calls, participant questions, and scheduling needs Document attendance, activities, and any notable events Clean up and reset the space, ensuring it is safe and ready for the next day High school diploma and 1 year of experience working with at risk and/or vulnerable populations in a professional setting required. Ability to communicate fluently (verbal and written) in Spanish and English. Associate degree in human services, social work, recreation, gerontology, or a related field preferred.
