This key leadership position oversees services that provide food, clothing, financial assistance, and crisis support to individuals and families facing hardship. The Emergency Assistance Coordinator will manage program operations, supervise staff and volunteers, build community partnerships, secure sustainable funding opportunities, and ensure that services are delivered with excellence, dignity, and compassion. This role offers an opportunity to make a lasting impact by helping vulnerable community members navigate crises while strengthening resources that support long-term stability.

Duties & Responsibilities Lead the planning, implementation, evaluation, and strategic growth of Fayetteville Urban Ministry's Emergency Assistance Program. Interview and assess applicants to determine eligibility for food, clothing, financial assistance, and other emergency support services. Supervise the Emergency Assistance Program Assistant and provide leadership, coaching, and professional development opportunities. Recruit, train, schedule, support, and recognize volunteers to ensure a positive and effective volunteer experience. Oversee client records, volunteer records, and program documentation while maintaining strict confidentiality standards. Manage appointment scheduling systems, client calendars, service records, and distribution tracking. Develop, monitor, and maximize program budgets to ensure resources are used efficiently and effectively. Oversee the receipt, documentation, acknowledgment, and distribution of donations in accordance with organizational policies. Ensure the Emergency Assistance Clothing Closet, Food Pantry, and program workspaces remain organized, welcoming, and well-maintained. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, donors, community partners, volunteers, government agencies, and other stakeholders. Collaborate with community organizations and service providers to strengthen referral networks and improve client outcomes. Seek, develop, and maintain sustainable funding sources, grants, partnerships, and in-kind donation opportunities. Assist with fundraising initiatives, community engagement activities, and organizational projects as assigned. Research and implement national best practices and emerging trends in crisis intervention, emergency assistance, and social services. Lead regular staff and volunteer training focused on customer service, crisis response, program procedures, and community resources. Provide emotional, professional, and resource support to staff, volunteers, students, and community members. Represent Fayetteville Urban Ministry through community presentations, outreach events, speaking engagements, and partnership meetings. Maintain accurate electronic and written records of all Emergency Assistance activities and outcomes. Perform additional duties as assigned by organizational leadership. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Social Work, Public Administration, Human Services, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Experience serving underserved populations and individuals experiencing crisis, poverty, homelessness, or other life challenges. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse populations respectfully and effectively. Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from various cultural, socioeconomic, and educational backgrounds. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting. Ability to remain calm, professional, and solution-focused during high-stress situations. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, as well as database management systems. Ability to maintain accurate records, generate reports, and manage confidential information. Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities, develop creative solutions, and implement new initiatives. Flexible and adaptable with a willingness to support the evolving needs of the organization and community. Demonstrated commitment to professionalism, accountability, compassion, integrity, and service. Comfortable representing the organization through public speaking, community engagement, conferences, and recruitment events. Bilingual (Spanish) or multilingual skills preferred.
