Full Job Description Purpose :
The Congregational Liaison builds relationships with theologically and culturally diverse congregations of multiple faiths to link them with FaithAction programs, and volunteering and strategic partnership opportunities. The position helps turn Strangers into Neighbors as we build community and power for the long-term wellbeing of everyone, no matter where they were born.
Qualifications:
The Congregational Liaison has theological knowledge, experience with interfaith work, a love for people, and the ability to successfully manage projects in a collaborative and welcoming, yet accountable, way. The role requires someone who is sensitive to people from all walks of life and diverse religious backgrounds, and has an affinity for the values, mission, and vision of FaithAction International. The Congregational Liaison must be able to organize and lead workshops, service projects, presentations, and celebratory events. This position requires working some evenings and weekends to accommodate when faith communities worship and meet, and for attending community events and conducting community outreach. It also requires having your own transportation.
Education :
An ideal candidate will have a bachelor or advanced degree in Theology or Religious Studies, with a focus on multicultural or interfaith engagement, or a similar degree of knowledge acquired through experience.
Relationships:
This position will report directly to the Associate Director and work closely with the FaithAction team.
Responsibilities :
Invite immigrant and refugee leaders, as well as community partners and volunteers, to build and share knowledge and possibilities for action alongside FaithAction to build a more welcoming and just community for immigrants Assist in connecting congregations to opportunities for donating food, hygiene products, and funds to FaithAction International Connect other FaithAction International staff with faith community leaders to facilitate further long-term partnerships Connect faith communities to each other and nurturing existing relationships between such faith communities; facilitate Stranger to Neighbor activities as assigned Attend internal and external meetings as requested or required Perform other tasks as assigned
