Budgeting Full Job Description Position Description:
Good Shepherd Center (GSC) is seeking a highly organized and energetic team member to lead fundraising events, manage in-kind donor relationships, and support donor stewardship and data entry. This person will take the lead on planning and executing signature fundraising events and third-party campaigns, while also providing essential support in maintaining donor records and acknowledging gifts. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both big-picture event strategy and behind-the-scenes operations. This person should be confident engaging with the community, passionate about service, and comfortable representing GSC's mission through outreach and events. They will work closely with the Development team and volunteers to ensure successful events and meaningful donor experiences.
Note:
This position's office is intentionally located within our shelter and programs building, keeping the mission front and center in day-to-day work. Essential Responsibilities Event Planning & Management Lead all aspects of signature special events (e.g., Spring Golf Tournament, Fall Party) including logistics, sponsorships, volunteers, auctions, and post-event reporting Oversee third-party fundraising efforts, providing guidance and support to community partners Develop volunteer event committees and cultivate strong community engagement In-Kind Donations & Community Outreach Manage relationships with in-kind donors and businesses Coordinate in-kind gift intake, acknowledgment, and volunteer scheduling around food or supply drives Represent GSC at fairs, faith-based events, and community networking opportunities Donor Stewardship & Data Management Record monetary donations received via check, online, or during events Generate and mail donor acknowledgment letters and personalized notes (e.g., first-time gifts, milestone donations) Maintain regular donor correspondence, including cards for birthdays or memorial gifts Enter donor and gift data into Salesforce; assist with reporting and list generation as needed Collaborate with the Communications Manager on targeted lists for appeals or stewardship Administrative & Collaborative Tasks Support event-related reporting and budget tracking Assist with the production and distribution of printed event materials (e.g., signage, flyers, programs) Maintain a collaborative team approach with Development and administrative staff Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 2+ years of experience planning fundraising events with net revenue over $50,000 Experience managing event committees and working with diverse community partners Familiarity with Salesforce, Greater Giving, Canva, Constant Contact, and Microsoft Office Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to manage multiple timelines, handle donor data with accuracy, and prioritize tasks Comfortable with public speaking and donor interaction

Background:
Founded in 1983, Good Shepherd has grown to become the largest provider of services to the hungry and homeless in the Cape Fear region. Programs and services include a soup kitchen, food salvage program, day and night shelters, on-site medical clinic, case management and counseling, and Permanent Supportive Housing for chronically homeless persons with disabilities, including homeless Veterans. The organization has 35 full-time and part-time staff and more than 500 volunteers. Good Shepherd has worked diligently and intentionally to move beyond serving merely as a safety net for hungry and homeless guests, devoting equal time and resources to transitioning our guests back to housing and stability in the community. This commitment is reflected in our mission: to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, and foster transition to housing.
