Job Description

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
This temporary Black Health Equity Initiative (BHEI) funded position supports Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan New Jersey's (PPMNJ) in Essex & Passaic County by implementing the Healthy Neighborhood Engagement program, assessing BIPOC community health needs, and improving understanding of patient experiences. The position requires a minimum commitment of 35 weeks in the designated county from start date.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
In collaboration with the Advocacy Manager, the position will organize and implement at least 4 Healthy Neighborhood Engagement events including: a. Crowd-canvassing to engage in health center service awareness, voter registration/information outreach, and safer-sex and/or period product distribution. b. Tabling in front of or near a PPMNJ health center to engage in service awareness, voter registration/information outreach, and safer-sex and/or period product distribution. 2. Identify and engage with local businesses or organizations in the service area to create and/or collaborate on small events to promote and raise awareness of PPMNJ's services. This can include, but not limited to, engaging barber shops, salons, and laundromat owners to coordinate an "in-house" information table. 3. Find opportunities to engage in tabling opportunities at community festivals, health fairs, or other engagements to promote PPMNJ's health care services, drive voter registration/awareness, and distribute safer sex products. 4. Document and engage in research to determine community health care needs and gaps in services, resources, etc. 5. Promote PPMNJ's new voucher program as part of outreach as defined above. 6. Submit timely reports and documentation of activities and work hours. 7. Participate in weekly Zoom or in-person check-in meetings with supervisor. 8. Travel within the assigned county 1-3 times per week and transport information and resources for distribution as needed.
