Job Description
CDLI Overview Community Development Long Island (CDLI) is the only full-service collection of community development entities that change Long Islanders lives for success in home creation and financial growth. CDLI supports these achievements on the individual and community level by offering innovative solutions and resources to achieve personal and community economic growth. Position Summary This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, award-winning company that is at the forefront of the sustainable housing community on Long Island. The position is ideal for a human services, education, community outreach, or banking industry professional with exceptional customer/client service skills. One of CDLI's fundamental pillars is "Community Development and Housing for All." To achieve that, CDLI provides full-service housing counseling and education through its Homeownership Center. This role is primarily focused on education, client engagement, and community-based service delivery. The educator will provide bilingual education and support to clients in English and Spanish, conduct workshops and presentations at CDLI and partner sites, and engage directly with community members in the field. This position requires a flexible schedule, including availability for evenings and weekends, based on program and outreach needs.
Responsibilities:
Conduct client intakes and provide individual education, guidance, and support for pre- and post-purchase clients seeking homeownership services in both English and Spanish Conduct and/or coordinate group education classes, workshops, and informational seminars utilizing PowerPoint presentations, including bilingual (English/Spanish) sessions as needed Present and facilitate classes, workshops, and outreach activities at CDLI locations and off-site community, employer, library, school, municipal, and partner locations as needed Engage with clients and community members in a welcoming, professional, and customer-focused manner, helping build awareness of CDLI services and encouraging participation in programs Respond to client inquiries in English and Spanish, monitor participant progress, and assist clients in understanding affordability and non-delinquency issues; provide early intervention as needed Provide administrative support by maintaining client records, inputting data into multiple databases, arranging client appointments, generating status reports, and notifying clients of meeting dates in a bilingual capacity when required Assist clients in preparing documents related to housing affordability, household budgets, and action plans, as well as collecting required documentation for mortgage applications, loan modification packages, or submissions to other agencies/funders—providing support in both English and Spanish Work with external partners to assist clients in preparing mortgage applications, loan modification/workout packages, and other required documentation, ensuring clear bilingual communication Represent CDLI professionally in the field and support outreach, education, and engagement efforts that expand access to services in the community Flexible work hours, including evenings and weekends, are required for this positionRequirements:
Must be fluent in both English and Spanish (written and verbal) to effectively communicate with diverse clients, community members, and team members Experience in client education, workshop facilitation, community engagement, outreach, or related direct service work preferred Comfortable presenting to groups and conducting classes and workshops at both CDLI and community-based sites Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) Exceptional interpersonal skills, with strong customer engagement and the ability to build rapport with clients and partners Proactive, detail-oriented, and organized, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and changing priorities Strong written and oral communication skills Motivated self-starter able to work independently and remotely as needed Ability and willingness to maintain a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and field-based work at partner and community locations This job description is not intended to be all inclusive and the employee will perform other reasonably related duties as assigned.Similar jobs in Melville, NY
