Outreach Services Specialist Status Full time Department Family Resources Description Rate of Pay $17.82 - $23.76 per hour
Basic Function:
Provide a direct link between the low-income population and the various services available to assist in alleviating problems of poverty. Develop and implement outreach strategies by organizing workshops, events, and education/training programs to increase community awareness about programs and projects. Forge new and maintain existing relationships with community stakeholders (individuals, businesses, and institutions) and potential donors. Organize and coordinate regular meetings between community stakeholders and program team members to identify issues and challenges within the community and find effective solutions. Assist Central Intake Coordinator with Angel donations. Write content pieces, press releases, announcements, and newsletters, to inform the public about the projects, services, and upcoming events in collaboration with the communications team to ensure community outreach and engagement activities are consistent with our brand and organization's culture. Assist in developing and maintaining client programs and records documentation according to contract and standards. Provide education, appropriate modeling techniques and several other supportive services as outlined in service plan. Assist Emergency Services Manager, Resource Specialists and Central Intake Receptionists in family assessments and in providing case management services. Monitor quality of care by working in accordance with contract requirements for contacting clients by letter, by phone, and/or by conducting residential/home visits. Provide intake, assessment, facilitated enrollment and other assistance to families requesting services. Advocate for the rights of low-income families and/or individuals. Provides information and referral to related follow-up. Works in coordination with other MVCAA programs, makes referrals or takes applications for direct services offered by the Agency. Research rules and regulations pertinent to programs and services for low- income families and individuals. Submits written reports and records as required. Observes confidentiality according to Performance Standards and Agency Policy. Performs other duties as requested by the Program Director/ Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
: AAS in Human Services with three years of experience in a related field preferred. Must possess excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate with the public and low-income families and individuals. Working knowledge of Microsoft products, computer literate. Ability to read and write English, comprehend basic forms and reporting systems, do simple arithmetic and keep accurate records. Ability to work with minimum supervision. Exercise good judgment.
