Job Description

Join us for a rewarding Outreach Internship designed for graduating high school and college students interested in gaining hands-on experience in community health this summer. Located in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, One Community Health is a Federally Qualified Health Center providing Medical, Dental, Behavioral Health, and Community Health services across Oregon and Washington. This is a full-time, summer position primarily based at our Hood River, Oregon clinic. Program dates are June through August/September (flexible based on school schedules). No prior clinical experience is required.
What You'll Do:
Visit local orchards to provide health resources and education Support and help facilitate community outreach events Assist with preventative dental outreach services Participate in health fairs and clinics, helping with registration, answering patient questions, and supporting administrative tasks Complete an intern project, such as developing outreach education materials (e.g., fotonovelas, socio-dramas, plain language materials) using Canva, or creating environmental health education resources (e.g., pesticides, multi-family housing topics)
Required Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older Bilingual in English and Spanish Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively in a team environment Customer service experience Passion for community health and health equity Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends for events Ability to travel to multiple OCH clinic sites; valid driver's license required
Preferred Qualifications:
Interest in healthcare or working in a Federally Qualified Health Center Previous internship, volunteer, or project experience Familiarity with local community resources
Compensation:
Hourly/Non-Exempt:
$20.00-$20.75 per hour
Bilingual Differential:
Additionally, we offer $0.75 per hour as compensation for bilingual proficiency in both English and Spanish.
