Volunteers, Peer Mentors and/or Student interns as appropriate Summary Primary responsibility is to provide community education that enhances knowledge, builds confidence, supports healthy family development, and encourages respectful and productive engagement for vulnerable populations in Philadelphia and its surrounding community. Creates and leads ongoing intergenerational social and emotional learning (SEL) activities for families and develops community events that strengthen connection, communication, and shared learning among participants. Work is performed both in person and virtually for individuals of all ages and cultural and ethnic backgrounds throughout the Philadelphia area region.Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Actively recruit participants to maintain consistent engagement and enrollment in parenting education groups, intergenerational SEL activities, and other community programming. Conducts outreach to increase community awareness of program opportunities and to strengthen referral connections from various sources. Develop and facilitate education workshops and classes utilizing evidenced-informed and/or evidence-based curriculums at CCoP sites and community partner locations throughout Philadelphia and its surrounding area. Develop and facilitate ongoing intergenerational social and emotional learning (SEL) activities for families and contributes to the planning and delivery of family-centered community events such as Literacy events, Health fairs, Job fairs, Community Baby Showers... Respond to requests for family and community related education in a timely fashion and coordinates scheduling at multiple locations with clear communication to Administration Provide supportive guidance, education, and linkage to appropriate CCoP and community resources for participants; maintains knowledge and contact information for relevant service providers and programming. Ensure continuity of services by providing follow-up, monitoring participant progress, and offering ongoing encouragement and support as needed. Maintain accurate, timely weekly documentation of services provided. Input participant information and data into the online database, Apricot 360, and keeps organized participant files in accordance with CCoP standards. Prepare and submit monthly service reports, including group attendance, participant progress, and program outcomes. Complete and submit all required documentation and paperwork for CCoP and funders in a timely manner. Work collaboratively with other community organizations to coordinate, enhance, and expand family support and educational programming. Participate in regular staff meetings, weekly supervision, roundtables and required CCoP and funder trainings/meetings. Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of and orientation to the philosophy of Catholic Charities of Philadelphia. Strict adherence to the teachings of the Catholic Church especially related to the position on abortion and contraception. Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques, child abuse reporting, de-escalation techniques, and trauma informed care. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding client information adhering to policies and procedures with knowledge of HIPAA laws. Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with co-workers, clients, and visitors. Knowledge and experience of group facilitation and public speaking. Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and ability to relate well and effectively in a diverse workplace and with a diverse client population Knowledge of current social service resources and delivery systems to meet a wide range of client needs. Access to and ability to utilize translation services to clients for whom English is not their first language. Ability to organize, efficiently document, and routinely update information in online reporting systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as online platforms such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams and others for online meetings, training and workshops. Requires access to and use of an automobile for timely provision of community-based services. Ability to work full time in person Monday-Friday with some occasional evening/weekend hours required. Education Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field of study Experience 1 - 3 years of professional experience Bilingual or multilingual abilities (English/Spanish or English/ French strongly preferred) Physical Requirements Must be mobile and able to bend, stoop and moderately life (up to 30 pounds) Must be able to sit/stand at a workstation or computer screen for up to 2 hours at a time.
