Job Description

The Event Operations and Community Engagement VISTA will strengthen the City of Lancaster's operational capacity to plan, coordinate, and sustain inclusive public events, neighborhood programming, and community engagement initiatives throughout the city. This initiative supports the City's broader efforts to expand equitable access to free family programming, cultural celebrations, public information campaigns, recreational activities, and neighborhood-based events that improve quality of life and strengthen community connection for low-income residents and underserved populations. The VISTA will focus heavily on improving operational systems, event coordination procedures, logistical planning, volunteer management, stakeholder communication, and partnership development that support City-led community programming. The position will help create sustainable infrastructure and standardized systems that improve the efficiency, consistency, accessibility, and long-term sustainability of public events and engagement efforts. Through collaboration with City departments, community organizations, schools, nonprofits, local businesses, vendors, and neighborhood stakeholders, the VISTA will assist in building coordinated operational strategies that reduce barriers to participation and increase community access to public resources, civic engagement opportunities, and educational or economic support services connected to City events.
Member Duties :
The Event Operations and Community Engagement VISTA will strengthen Lancaster's capacity to plan, coordinate, and sustain inclusive public events, neighborhood programs, and engagement initiatives. The role supports the City's efforts to expand equitable access to free family activities, cultural celebrations, public information campaigns, recreational opportunities, and neighborhood events that improve quality of life for low-income and underserved residents. The VISTA will enhance operational systems, event procedures, logistics, volunteer management, communication, and partnerships. By collaborating with City departments, community groups, schools, nonprofits, businesses, and neighborhood stakeholders, the VISTA will help reduce barriers to participation and expand access to public resources and engagement opportunities. The role also includes developing event tools, outreach systems, volunteer resources, sponsorship materials, and tracking processes that remain after the term.
