Philadelphia Job Overview:
The Outreach and Engagement Specialist (OES) is responsible for representing Health Promotion Services (HPS) and Health Promotion Council (HPC) at community events. The OES prepares and collects the materials for distribution at various events in coordination with the Outreach and Engagement Manager. The OES engages with community members, educating them about the various programs and services that HPS/HPC provides. The OES supports community members with referrals to programs for which they may be eligible. The OES is responsible for tracking the contacts with community members that are made at outreach events. This position requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to function independently. The OES reports to the Senior Director of Operations and Quality.
Responsibilities:
Maintain data compliance to ensure accurate tracking of community participation in outreach and engagement endeavors. In collaboration with the Outreach and Engagement Manager and other HPS/HPC program staff, market and promote programs and recruit participants who may be eligible. Provide referrals and linkages to HPS/HPC services and resources. Participate in supervision sessions and team meetings, and staff meetings as needed. Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Skills:
Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent oral communication skills. Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines required. Proficiency with email, MS Office applications, and web-based data systems. Experience working in community settings and facilitating community events.
Experience Required:
Two years of employment in the non-profit sector. Two years of experience working with families, including those affected by substance abuse, mental health, criminal justice, and related issues. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including some weekend/evening hours as requested.
Education Requirement:
High School diploma or GED Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred, with a degree in social work, public health, human services, psychology, or a related field preferred. Experience Required 2 year(s): Two years of experience working with families, including those affected by substance abuse, mental health, criminal justice, and related issues. 2 year(s): Two years of employment in the non-profit sector.
