Through partnerships with local schools and community organizations, we serve hundreds of families each month across Northern Manhattan.

Position Overview Verde Vida seeks a highly motivated and community-oriented Community Impact Fellow to support the operations of our La Casita Program at PS189M and assist with the planning and execution of community food distribution events at our partner schools. This fellowship offers hands-on experience in nonprofit management, food justice, community engagement, volunteer coordination, and event planning. The Fellow will work closely with Verde Vida leadership, volunteers, school administrators, and community partners to help expand access to nutritious food for families across Washington Heights and Inwood. Key ResponsibilitiesLa Casita Program Support Assist with inventory management and organization of La Casita at PS189M. Stock and maintain healthy snacks, beverages, and produce. Monitor inventory levels and identify replenishment needs. Help create a welcoming and organized environment for students and families. Support data collection and program impact tracking. Event & Community Engagement Assist with coordinating Pop-Up Markets and community food distributions. Support event setup, registration, client flow, and breakdown. Coordinate volunteers and community partners during events. Help distribute outreach materials and promote upcoming events. Collect participant feedback and event metrics. Administrative Support Enter data into Airtable and other tracking systems. Assist with volunteer communications and follow-up. Support social media content creation, photography, and storytelling. Assist with donor acknowledgements and impact reporting. QualificationsRequired Current college student, graduate student, or recent graduate. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Commitment to community service and social impact. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and work outdoors during events. Preferred Bilingual in English and Spanish. Experience volunteering with community-based organizations. Interest in food justice, public policy, public health, education, or nonprofit management. Experience with Canva, Airtable, social media, or event planning.
