Full time/Hybrid Background and Mission Rising Voices is a nonprofit organization that seeks to organize and develop the leadership of Asian American women, families and young people for power around progressive values and policy in the state of Michigan through community and cultural organizing, electoral engagement, and policy advocacy for a future where all families can thrive. We envision a state and communities where our families have access to just economic policies, in-language support, affordable and culturally competent healthcare, inclusive education, welcome for immigrants, advocacy for workers, policy representation and accountability for our electeds. Our theory of change includes multiple strategies for power that serve to develop leadership within Asian American communities that will move local state and federal progressive policy and help elect progressive candidates to champion those issues. Rising Voices is a fiscally sponsored project of the Center for Empowered Politics, a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization; Rising Voices Fund is a fiscally sponsored project of the Center for Empowered Politics Fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Job Summary The Field Manager is responsible for managing the day to day execution of voter outreach programs for the organization, administering outreach tools and systems and assisting the Policy and Political Director in developing strategy to harness the grassroots power of the Asian American vote in Michigan. The manager is responsible for supervising outreach organizers, leading outreach using a variety of community engagement tactics, facilitating the skill building and political education of the outreach organizing team, and holding outreach organizers accountable to numeric goals and quality conversations. The Field Manager reports directly to the Policy and Political Director. The work is outdoors up to 75% of the time. This role is estimated to end on or around November 29, 2026. Essential Functions The following responsibilities are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. Team Management Maintain a strong team culture that upholds Rising Voices' organizational values and exemplifies respect and integrity for the team that they manage Oversee the hiring and onboarding of field staff Develop the leadership of canvassers through skills training in outreach tactics, political education sessions, and one on one check-ins Hold team members accountable to goals and expectations Take attendance and track hours of part-time canvassers Community Outreach Assist in building a field plan based on qualitative and quantitative data Contribute to outreach efforts through door knocking and follow-up conversations with community members Plan and coordinate community and volunteer events Develop and maintain processes for the recruitment, training and supervision of canvassers. Data & Set Up Setup of outreach campaigns on digital platforms for canvassing and organizing Ensure data collection best practices and assist with quality checking of data collected from outreach efforts Coordinate distribution of outreach materials Physical Demands Occasionally required to lift and move office supplies or equipment (up to 25 pounds). Participation in event logistics. Event logistics may require physical tasks such as lifting and carrying materials or equipment (up to 25 pounds), setting up tables and chairs, bending or crouching to arrange supplies, standing for up to 30 minutes, and moving throughout event spaces during setup and cleanup. Must be able to work on a computer, including sitting at a desk for extended periods of time, with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to understand and follow oral and written instruction. Work Environment The position is a full time position that works 40 hours a week and requires frequent travel. This position is currently hybrid and will include remote work at home, work at onsite locations and mandatory meetings at Rising Voices' Techtown office in Detroit, MI with moderate level of noise and interruptions. This position may require some work on nights and weekends (Saturday and Sunday).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Comfort working with groups of people who are diverse in race, ethnicity, gender, sexual identity, age, religious affiliation, English language proficiency, class, education background, immigration status, and ability. Prior management experience, especially within a political organizing or nonprofit context. Prior experience on electoral, community organizing, education, or union campaigns. Knowledge of and interest in voting rights and electoral politics. Knowledge of programs and systems used for canvassing and phonebanking Ability to learn new skills and tools quickly. Ability to work with minimal supervision; self-motivated. Ability to work well with a team, take direction/feedback, and share skills & knowledge. Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to organize complex ideas for others to understand. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Reliable access to a vehicle.
Required Qualifications:
Some experience managing a field electoral program is essential for this role Aligns with Rising Voices' mission and values. Believes in fighting for economic, racial, and social justice for all.
Preferred Qualifications:
Fluency in an Asian language is a plus but not required. Compensation and Benefits This is a full time, non-exempt position ranging from $28-34/hr dependent on experience.
