$35,000 - $40,000 Organization ChainFree ("CF") is a grassroots nonprofit organization founded in Knoxville, Tennessee in response to the widespread issue of continuous dog tethering. ChainFree's mission is to improve the lives of outdoor dogs and promote humane alternatives to continuous tethering through building free enclosures, spay/neuter assistance, aftercare programs, compassionate education, and community-based advocacy. What sets ChainFree apart is our judgment-free, relationship-based approach. We work collaboratively with pet owners to develop practical solutions that improve the lives of both dogs and the families who care for them. Summary The Program & Development Director ("PDD") is responsible for leading and supporting ChainFree's fundraising, community engagement, operational coordination, and program support efforts. This position plays a critical role in sustaining and expanding ChainFree's mission through donor stewardship, volunteer engagement, community partnerships, and day-to-day organizational operations. The PDD will work closely with the Board of Directors and volunteers to support fundraising initiatives, strengthen donor and community relationships, coordinate operational activities, and assist with program logistics and outreach. Because ChainFree is a small and rapidly growing organization, the ideal candidate must be adaptable, proactive, organized, and comfortable balancing a wide range of responsibilities as organizational needs evolve. This position offers an opportunity to help shape and grow a mission-driven organization making a direct impact in the community. Responsibilities Fundraising & Donor Engagement
  • Assist with planning, coordination, and execution of fundraising initiatives and donor stewardship activities.
  • Help cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, sponsors, grantors, corporate partners, and community supporters.
  • Assist with sponsorship outreach, donor communications, and grant research/applications.
  • Coordinate donor acknowledgement letters and other stewardship efforts.
  • Support fundraising campaigns, social media engagement, and special events, including The ChainFree Ball annual gala.
  • Work collaboratively with Board members and volunteers to help expand ChainFree's fundraising capacity and community support.
Program & Operations Coordination Monitor and respond to inquiries received through ChainFree's email, phone, website, and social media platforms. Assist with intake and processing of client applications, including verification of program eligibility requirements and completion of necessary documentation. Assist with coordination of logistics related to fence builds, including scheduling, volunteer communication, material coordination, and build-day support. Assist with maintaining accurate records related to clients, dogs, volunteers, donors, and organizational activities. Help coordinate inventory, supply organization, and transportation of materials as needed. Support positive experiences for volunteers, clients, donors, and community partners. Perform additional operational and administrative duties reasonably related to supporting ChainFree's mission and programs. Community Outreach & Relationship Building Represent CF professionally and compassionately within the community. Help strengthen relationships with community organizations, animal welfare partners, volunteers, and supporters. Support outreach and educational efforts that promote humane alternatives to continuous tethering.
  • Assist with increasing community awareness of ChainFree's programs and impact.
  • Build positive working relationships with service recipients from a wide range of backgrounds and circumstances.
Organizational Support Collaborate with the Board of Directors to support organizational priorities, initiatives, and strategic goals. Assist with preparation of reports, materials, and updates as requested. Help identify opportunities for organizational growth, partnerships, and program development. Support a collaborative, respectful, and mission-focused organizational culture. Qualifications Passion for CF's mission and commitment to compassionate, judgment-free community engagement. Prior experience in nonprofit operations, fundraising, grants, volunteer coordination, event planning, community outreach, or related work preferred. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse groups of people. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with limited supervision. Ability to work collaboratively with volunteers, community partners, and a Board of Directors. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general database/technology platforms. Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for events, outreach activities, and fence builds. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required. Ability to occasionally lift and transport supplies. Excitement to be a part of a growing movement!
