As a 501(c)(3) organization, we offer a range of programs and education initiatives, including comprehensive support services for postsecondary enrollment and persistence, career pathways preparation, and educational equity advocacy. Since 2019, we have supported over 1,000 LEAF Scholars and their families throughout their college journey. In 2024 alone, we served more than 500 LEAF Scholars and over 90 LEAF Mentors, along with more than 200 families. A remarkable 85% of our students persist in college, considering that fewer than 20% of low-income Latinx students nationally persist in earning a college degree within six years. Our comprehensive support system includes scholarships, workshops, peer mentorship, parent engagement, and college partnerships, which all work together to increase the enrollment and retention rates of Latinx students. With our unwavering commitment, we aspire to empower and uplift our community's next generation of Latinx leaders.
Position Overview:
LEAF is seeking three passionate and dedicated Program Coordinators to support the delivery and coordination of one of our core program areas: Career Exploration & Discovery (CED), College Success Program (CSP), College and Career Preparation (CCP), or Family Engagement & Advocacy (FE & Adv). Placement will be based on a combination of candidate experience, preference, and organizational need at the time of hire. Each of these programs is designed to support first-generation, low-income Latinx students and families in East San José as they navigate postsecondary education, career development, and family engagement. The Program Coordinator plays a frontline role in delivering high-quality programming, building relationships with participants, and ensuring smooth day-to-day program operations. Key Responsibilities:
Program Delivery & Facilitation
  • Facilitate engaging workshops, group sessions, and events for students, families, and/ormentors in both virtual and in-person settings.
  • Develop program materials, slide decks, and resources within a defined curriculum framework established by the Senior Program Coordinator and Senior Program Manager
  • Adapt facilitation approaches to meet the needs of diverse participants, fostering engagement, knowledge retention, and skill building. Program Coordination & Administration
  • Coordinate program schedules, activities, and logistics in collaboration with the direct manager and partner sites.
  • Collect and maintain accurate program data, including institutional academic records, attendance records, participant feedback, and information needed for stipend or check distribution.
  • Organize participant contact information to support timely communication and follow-up.
  • Track participant progress toward program milestones and flag concerns to the direct manager.
  • Support a caseload of approximately 150 scholars. Relationship Building & Community Engagement
  • Build and maintain respectful, professional relationships with students, families, mentors, and community partners.
  • Support outreach and communication efforts with schools, community organizations, and families to promote program participation.
  • Represent LEAF at school sites, community events, and partner locations to recruit participants and build program awareness. Events & Outreach
  • Plan and participate in LEAF engagement activities, including orientations, family nights, resource fairs, recruitment presentations, and community events.
  • Support the creation of outreach materials such as flyers, social media content, and email communications.
  • Collect participant stories and program highlights to contribute to impact reporting and communications efforts. Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Work closely with the direct manager and broader LEAF team to share updates, surface challenges, and implement feedback.
  • Contribute to team efforts to improve program processes and participant experience.
  • Actively seek and apply feedback to continuously improve individual work and service delivery.   • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work, or a related field preferred or equivalent direct experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish fluency required
  • Experience providing supportive services to students, families, and/or in the community, preferred
  • Some experience building professional relationships and rapport with individuals of diverse backgrounds, particularly with the demographic LEAF primarily serves
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and social justice
  • Familiarity with East San José or similar communities
  • Strong presentation/facilitation, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Google Suite, including Google Drive, Docs, and Sheets.
  • Familiarity with Canva, Mailchimp, and other graphic design applications is a plus
  • Submit to a background check and TB test, as well as any other school-based requirements

  • Will seek to improve individual work; proactively seeks and acts on feedback Compensation and Benefits LEAF offers a generous pay and benefits package which includes:
  • $66,000 - $72,600 annual base salary, based on experience and qualifications
  • 50% employer-paid medical and dental/vision coverage options
  • 401(k) retirement plan with a LEAF match: 100% of contributions on the first 3% deferred, then 50% of contributions from 3% to 5%
Paid Time Off:
14 paid holidays, 15 days accrued vacation- increases with length of service, 10 days paid sick leave, Winter break between December 24 and New Year.

  • LEAF offices are located at 1550 The Alameda, San Jose, CA 95126. This position is required to work from the office 2-3 days of the week with the option to work remotely the remaining days.
