PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT & COMMUNITY OUTREACH COORDINATOR
Part-Time Position Safe Harbor Paws - A Program of Houston Autism Center Houston, Texas Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of both people and animals? Safe Harbor Paws is seeking a Program Development & Community Outreach Coordinator to help build an innovative nonprofit program that combines dog rescue, community service, and opportunities for autistic young adults. This position is ideal for a motivated individual who enjoys developing programs, building community partnerships, organizing events, recruiting volunteers, seeking donations, managing social media, and helping a mission-driven organization grow. We are looking for someone who believes that one person can make a meaningful difference and who is excited about helping transform a vision into a sustainable community resource.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Research grant opportunities and funding sources Assist with grant applications and donor outreach Develop relationships with local businesses and community organizations Coordinate fundraising activities and special events Recruit and support volunteers Help build foster and rescue partnerships Seek donations of pet food, supplies, services, and sponsorships Assist with community outreach and public education efforts Develop and maintain Safe Harbor Paws' presence on Facebook, Instagram, and other social media platforms Create and schedule engaging content highlighting rescued animals, volunteer activities, community partnerships, success stories, and program milestones Respond to social media inquiries and help build positive community engagement Coordinate online fundraising campaigns and donation drives Assist with website content updates and community announcements Help increase public awareness of Safe Harbor Paws and its mission through digital marketing and outreach efforts Work collaboratively with leadership to develop branding, promotional materials, newsletters, and community communications Prepare periodic progress reports and project updates Collaborate with leadership to expand program visibility and impact
QUALIFICATIONS
Strong organizational and communication skills Self-motivated and able to work independently Comfortable interacting with community members, donors, business leaders, and volunteers Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Professional, dependable, and mission-focused Experience with nonprofit organizations, fundraising, volunteer coordination, community outreach, event planning, marketing, public relations, or program development is preferred Grant writing experience is a plus but not required
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
Social media management (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, or similar platforms) Content creation, photography, or storytelling for nonprofit organizations Community outreach and public relations Fundraising and donor engagement Grant research and grant writing Volunteer recruitment and management Event planning and community partnerships

SCHEDULE
Part-time with flexible hours. Some evening or weekend community events may be required.
COMPENSATION
Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability to contribute to program growth and development.
