Job Description
Role Overview The Programs & Community Engagement Lead supports the coordination and implementation of youth programming, outreach efforts, community engagement activities, and community-based events connected to The Royal Rose Foundation's Rose Response initiative. This role is heavily community-facing and requires active participation in events, outreach activations, workshops, and public engagement efforts throughout the Portland Metro area. This position is expected to help lead and support community events, represent The Royal Rose Foundation in public spaces, assist with outreach and tabling efforts, and maintain strong engagement with youth, volunteers, and community members.
Estimated Timeline Estimated start date:
June 2026 Estimated end date: June 2027, dependent on grant timelines, organizational needs, contractor performance, and funding availability. Estimated Commitment Approximately 15 hours per week on average throughout the grant period. Hours may fluctuate depending on programming schedules, events, outreach activities, and organizational needs. Evening and weekend availability will regularly be required due to community events, workshops, and outreach programming. Compensation Structure This role is structured as a part-time independent contractor position. Contractors are compensated based on actual approved hours worked and must submit timesheets/invoices according to organizational procedures. This is not a salaried or guaranteed-hour position. Compensation is estimated at approximately $23 per hour equivalent based on grant-supported funding and workload expectations. Position Continuation This role is currently supported through grant funding tied to a specific program period. While The Royal Rose Foundation hopes to continue growing and sustaining positions long-term, continuation beyond the grant period will depend on organizational funding, program needs, contractor performance, and overall budget capacity. Core Responsibilities Support coordination and facilitation of the Rosebuds Youth Ambassador Program Assist with youth recruitment, onboarding, communication, and retention efforts Support and help facilitate bi-weekly virtual youth sessions and monthly in-person programming Help coordinate workshops, outreach activities, prevention-focused programming, and youth engagement efforts Assist with planning, coordination, setup, execution, and breakdown of community events and outreach activations Attend and actively support community events, outreach activations, tabling opportunities, workshops, and seasonal initiatives on behalf of the organization Help lead event operations and support community engagement efforts during events and public activations Represent The Royal Rose Foundation professionally within community spaces, schools, outreach settings, partner sites, and public events Support volunteer coordination, outreach preparation, and supply organization for events and activations Maintain communication with participants, volunteers, team members, and community partners Assist with attendance tracking, outreach documentation, event reporting, and administrative/program support needs Work Structure & Availability Expectations This role includes a combination of remote, in-office, and community-based responsibilities depending on programming and organizational needs.Contractors can expect involvement in:
Bi-weekly virtual meetings/sessions Monthly in-person youth programming Community events and outreach activations Tabling events and workshops Occasional in-office coordination and preparation days Team meetings and planning support as needed This role requires consistent participation in community-based work and public-facing events. Contractors should expect to regularly attend, support, and help lead scheduled events and outreach activities throughout the grant period. Qualifications & Expectations Strong communication and organizational skills Comfortable engaging with youth and community members in diverse settings Ability to confidently engage with the public and represent the organization during events and outreach activities Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced grassroots nonprofit environment Reliable, adaptable, professional, and community-centered Reliable transportation or the ability to consistently travel throughout the Portland Metro area for outreach activities, events, meetings, and programming A valid driver's license is strongly preferred Basic computer and communication skills, including familiarity with email, Google Workspace, and virtual meeting platforms Ability to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and appropriate conduct while representing the organization Background Check & Safety Requirements Due to the youth-facing and community-based nature of this role, selected contractors may be required to complete a background check prior to onboarding. Contractors are expected to comply with organizational safety expectations, community conduct standards, and all applicable policies related to youth engagement and community programming. Independent Contractor Notice This position is classified as an independent contractor role and does not include employee benefits, guaranteed hours, unemployment benefits, workers compensation coverage, or other employee-related benefits unless otherwise required by law or separately agreed upon in writing. Additional Notes This role is designed to support both youth programming and community engagement efforts as the organization continues to grow. Responsibilities may evolve based on program needs, organizational priorities, partnerships, funding capacity, and community needs.Pay:
