Non-recurring Location:
South Carolina (regular travel in SCACAP service area) Make a Difference with SCACAP! The Nutrition Community Specialist is vital in connecting families with healthy food options and nutrition education in Head Start/Early Head Start programs across 10 South Carolina counties. You'll collaborate with health and agriculture partners, plan engaging wellness events, and develop toolkits and resources to support families and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Build partnerships with local nutrition providers, food banks, markets, departments of agriculture, and community organizations Organize outreach and wellness events including cooking demonstrations, produce distributions, and health screenings Create and share effective, culturally responsive materials (flyers, newsletters, digital resources) Support staff and families with referrals to SNAP, WIC, and food access programs Track event participation and outreach effectiveness; report monthly to the NHE Manager Collaborate with education/health teams to embed nutrition into Head Start programming
Requirements:
Bachelor's in Public Health, Nutrition, Health Promotion, Human Services, or related field (equivalent experience considered) Two or more years in community outreach, nutrition education, or partnership development (Head Start/public health experience valued) Excellent event planning, relationship-building, and communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google Workspace; experience with basic design tools (e.g., Canva) preferred Valid driver's license and reliable transportation; ability to travel regularly across
SC Preferred:
Bilingual (English/Spanish/other), SNAP-Ed/WIC/farm-to-ECE experience, nutrition or health coaching background

This is a grant-funded, non-recurring position; renewal depends on future funding and program needs.
