Full Job Description Position Description:
The Community Relations Associate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment with various duties that may change daily. In addition, the ideal candidate must be highly organized and detail-oriented, a quick learner, and proficient with community building.MAJOR JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs regular administrative duties in a timely and efficient manner; including but not limited to recording and tracking donor contracts and payments, reviewing and submitting event-related invoices for payment, writing acknowledgment and thank you letters, assembling donor solicitation packets, creating and updating donor/program related forms, researching both monetary and in-kind funding sources, writing solicitation letters, executing mass mailings. Conduct community education and awareness presentations, as needed, for families, community organizations, schools, employers, and civic and social groups. Promote the Epilepsy Foundation Central & South Texas (EFCST) through brand awareness within the community by providing information through educational displays at health fairs and seminars. Become knowledgeable about the medical and social aspects of epilepsy and be able to convey such information to individuals and groups. Host monthly support groups and attend additional programs as necessary. Work with staff and volunteer leadership to plan, coordinate, and implement EFCST special events within the 79 counties we serve. Coordinate with external and internal audiences, including vendors and donors Work at special events as directed, including preparation, set-up, event execution, and tear-down.Event Sponsor Project Development:
Work to identify, cultivate, and solicit donors, emphasizing maximizing revenue through events. Update donor records in EFCSTs contact management system following all donor interactions. Provide administrative support in the research and solicit new and existing donors to support regional special events. Perform complex administrative duties with little supervision, exercising confidentiality, independent discretion, and judgment. Assist in the planning and implementation of yearly youth camps and retreats. Provide information and referral to clients and the community. Develop articles for education programs, newsletters/blogs, and email updates as needed. Provide information on EFCST programs and upcoming events to area hospitals, support groups, physician practices, and community organizations. Visits local neurology offices as needed. Other duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTS PREFERRED
Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent experience in lieu of degree. Nonprofit experience is preferred but not requiredEXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
Proficient in all Microsoft Office Programs. Proficiency in using computers for word processing, simple accounting, databases, spreadsheets, email, and the internet. Ability to communicate well individually, in small groups, and public settings. Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms. Self-starter, professional, problem solver, energetic, motivated, creative, and caring. Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills. Ability to work as a member of a team. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.SUPERVISORY & DECISION-MAKING RESPONSIBILITY
Provides direct supervision to volunteers during programs and events. May provide input on planned, developed, implemented, and conducted activities.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
Performs most tasks seated at a desk in a well-lighted and ventilated atmosphere with no known environmental hazards other than exposure to childhood diseases. Required to walk short distances, stoop, or bend occasionally. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position. Employees may follow an alternative work schedule of four 10-hour days, as approved by their supervisor. Specific workdays are determined collaboratively between the employee and supervisor. This role may require occasional evening and weekend hours to support programs, events, and support groups. Participation in outdoor activities may also be required.TRAVEL:
Travel will be required for special events and implementing education and outreach programs, including trainings, retreats, and camps. Must have a valid drivers license, current automobile liability insurance, and a driving record with no major driving offenses. Reliable transportation is a must.
