Food Drive Coordinator Job DescriptionPosition Title Food Drive Coordinator Reports To Executive Director or Community Outreach Director Position Type Part-Time Position Summary The Food Drive Coordinator leads the planning, organization, promotion, and execution of food drives that support the mission of the organization by providing nutritious food to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. This role develops partnerships with churches, schools, businesses, apartment communities, civic groups, and volunteers to increase community engagement and maximize food donations while promoting dignity, stewardship, and sustainable impact. Key ResponsibilitiesCommunity Partnership Development Recruit and maintain relationships with churches, schools, businesses, apartment complexes, and community organizations. Present the organization's mission and opportunities for partnership. Develop annual and seasonal food drive campaigns. Identify new community partners and sponsorship opportunities. Food Drive Planning & Execution Coordinate logistics for all food drives from planning through completion. Create timelines, collection schedules, and promotional calendars. Arrange delivery and pickup of donated food. Ensure collection sites are properly supplied with bins, signage, and marketing materials. Coordinate volunteers for setup, monitoring, and transportation. Marketing & Promotion Develop promotional materials including flyers, social media posts, email campaigns, and newsletters. Work with communications staff to highlight success stories and donor impact. Encourage recurring food drive partnerships throughout the year. Volunteer Management Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers. Assign responsibilities during food drive events. Ensure volunteers understand safety procedures and organizational values. Recognize and appreciate volunteer contributions. Donation Management Track incoming donations by source and category. Coordinate sorting and inventory procedures with pantry staff. Ensure donated items meet quality and safety standards. Maintain accurate records for reporting and donor recognition. Data & Reporting Monitor food drive performance metrics. Prepare monthly and annual reports including: Pounds of food collected Number of participating organizations Volunteer hours Estimated meals provided Community impact stories Recommend improvements based on outcomes. Mission Integration Promote a philosophy of empowerment that emphasizes "hand up" opportunities alongside immediate assistance. Encourage partnerships that build long-term relationships rather than one-time transactions. Represent the organization with professionalism, compassion, and integrity. QualificationsRequired High school diploma or equivalent. Strong organizational and project management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Ability to manage multiple events simultaneously. Experience recruiting and coordinating volunteers. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace. Preferred Experience in the non-profit/ministry area Experience in fundraising, event planning, or community outreach. Familiarity with food pantry operations. Knowledge of donor management software or CRM systems. Occasional travel throughout the service area.
