Job Description

Job Title:
Community Outreach Educator Type of Staff:
Full-time (non-exempt) Salary Hours 40/ week/ Travel appr 20%- 40% week company vehicle provided.

The ARK Domestic Violence Shelter Program Director General Description:
Under the supervision of The ARK Domestic Violence Shelter Program Director, the Community Outreach Educator is responsible for overseeing, facilitating, and coordinating training and educational programs in the three-county area we serve. They will be responsible for duties in other areas of the center to ensure that the goals and objectives of the program are carried out according to The ARK's Policies and Procedures.
Essential Job Functions:
  • Schedule and present community outreach and structured prevention information, classroom-based education programs to businesses, community/civic groups, faith-based groups, students in schools and colleges in Coleman, Comanche, Mills, and Brown Counties
  • Meet agency goals and target numbers for educational and prevention presentations and participants each fiscal year for each grant to stay in compliance
  • Coordinates, establishes, and implements primary prevention strategies, curriculum, and activities.
  • Development and coordination of advocate training programs, including arranging appropriate guest speakers and the scheduling of guests & attendees
  • Assist in providing quarterly volunteer advocate training updates
  • Create appropriate approaches to reach the underserved populations
  • Completing work within ethical standards, professional guidelines, agency policies, cultural competency, including confidentiality, and a victim-centered approach to The ARK's services provided
  • Possibly providing direct and follow-up services to clients
  • Maintenance of agency website and social media outlets, and respond to online requests for assistance
  • Answering Hotline during business hours
  • Outreach and training to meet the educational requirements of the agency
  • Complete all documentation and surveys in a manner in secure location while working in agency software programs.
  • Assist with fundraising events; planning, attending fundraising meetings, advertising the events, connecting with community partners, gathering donation items for auctions.

Program Director/Executive Director Minimum Qualifications:
  • Prefer bilingual Spanish/English abilities
  • Prefer experience in education, human services, public relations, or related field
  • Prefer website and/or social media maintenance skills
  • Desire to provide direct advocacy services to victims
  • Must have excellent communication, self-direction, and organizational skills
  • Qualified applicants should have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred in education, human services, public relations, or a related field
Screenable Job Requirements:
A. Willingness to train in areas of family violence and The ARK policies and procedures. B. Ability to provide own transportation. C. Willingness to perform tasks outside job description. D. Must be neat and professionally dressed E. Must have outgoing personality and direct contact skills with clients, staff and public. F. Must be willing to give month notice upon exiting.
