Job Description

Job Summary The Health West Outreach and Advocacy Specialist is a passionate and enthusiastic individual responsible for representing Health West at various events, community gatherings, and outreach activities. In addition to promoting the Health West brand, this role serves as a community advocate, including participating in statewide initiatives through the State Primary Care Association (PCA), and educating the public about Health West's services and programs. The ideal candidate possesses strong interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of our brand values, and the ability to engage diverse audiences in a professional, informative, and compelling manner. Job Description Form collaborative relationships with relevant organizations to develop the Health West brand, improve patient access, and build brand awareness. Serve as an advocate for Health West by educating the community about available healthcare services, preventive care, and health equity initiatives. Represent Health West in State PCA efforts, participating in statewide advocacy campaigns, policy initiatives, and public health programs as directed. Distribute outreach materials throughout the community and actively communicate Health West's mission, programs, and services. Create positive, memorable, and informative brand experiences that foster trust and awareness of Health West's role in the community. Maintain a calendar of outreach events, including strategies, advocacy opportunities, and community engagement initiatives. Coordinate and participate in outreach activities such as parades, health fairs, community events, presentations, and advocacy-focused programs. Maintain a consistent brand voice and image across all interactions, ensuring that advocacy messaging aligns with organizational values. Evaluate outreach and advocacy activities for effectiveness, community impact, and future improvement. Other duties as assigned. Skills & Competencies Demonstrates a strong commitment to service, healthcare values, and professionalism through appropriate conduct and demeanor at all times. Advocates for patients and the community by effectively communicating health center services, programs, and resources, including participation in State PCA initiatives. Must be able and willing to travel throughout Health West's service area, have dependable transportation, a valid driver's license, and proof of automobile insurance. Demonstrated well-developed written and oral communication skills, including public speaking, community engagement, and advocacy representation. Maintains confidentiality and protects sensitive information at all times. Adheres to organizational and department-specific safety standards and guidelines. Works collaboratively with and supports the efforts of other team members, including healthcare providers and administrative staff. Demonstrates exceptional customer service and interacts effectively with providers, patients, visitors, staff, and the broader healthcare community. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in marketing, communications, public health, or related field preferred. At least one year of relevant experience in marketing, outreach, sales, or advocacy. Experience in a multi-specialty healthcare system preferred. Willingness to work weekends and/or evenings for community events. Ability to speak effectively before groups, advocate for healthcare services, and actively engage the general public in outreach and advocacy situations, including State PCA initiatives.
