About In-Sight Photography Project:
In-Sight Photography Project empowers youth through photography, offering accessible, high-quality arts education that supports creative expression, builds confidence, and strengthens community—particularly for those impacted by poverty.
Position Overview:
The VISTA volunteer will increase community outreach, develop the volunteer base, and clarify and enhance the aspects of In-Sight's curriculum that are producing our intended outcomes. This work will include communications and marketing, volunteer recruitment and management, relationship-building, and program assessment and development. Key Objectives Expand In-Sight's outreach by growing social media and newsletter audiences through strategic communications and digital campaigns Increase community awareness through events, partnerships, and hands-on photography activities Support and optimize the contact management system to improve engagement with students, families, donors, and volunteers Assist in planning and implementing events that strengthen community relationships and support networks Recruit, engage, and retain volunteers to expand organizational capacity and support programming Develop systems and resources for volunteer management, including training and retention strategies Collaborate on curriculum development to create scalable, accessible programming for partners and volunteers Responsibilities May Include Communications & Marketing Create and share marketing and public relations content Build and maintain community partnerships and outreach strategies Evaluate outreach efforts and recommend improvements Volunteer Recruitment & Management Develop and manage volunteer recruitment, tracking, and communication systems Coordinate volunteer recognition efforts Relationship-Building & Fundraising Research and support new partnership and fundraising opportunities Assist in developing tools and systems to strengthen donor and partner engagement Support fundraising efforts, including events, grants, and individual giving Program Development & Assessment Support development and implementation of curricula and partnership programs Collaborate with community partners to design and pilot programs Evaluate program effectiveness and document resources for future use Train staff and volunteers to implement programs
Qualifications:
Passion for photography and education; previous photography experience necessary. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with students, staff, and community members. Ability to work collaboratively and supportively with a diverse group of individuals. Critical thinking skills to troubleshoot challenges as they arise. Familiarity with event planning and program implementation.

Living Allowance:
Paid bi-weekly, totaling $24,962 for the full year of service. End-of-Service Award (Choice):
Segal Education Award:
$7,395 to pay for future tuition or pay off qualified student loans. Good for 7 years or a $1,800 cash payment (taxable) upon completion.
Healthcare Coverage:
Members without coverage can join the VISTA Health Benefit Plan through l, covering office visits, labs, emergency care, and some dental/vision.
Relocation Allowance:
Members moving over 50 miles for service may receive a settling-in allowance and travel assistance up to $750. Non-Competitive Eligibility (NCE): VISTA alumni gain special status that makes it easier to get hired for federal jobs for one year after service.
Loan Forbearance:
Qualified student loans may be deferred or put into forbearance during the service term.
