Job Description

Position Overview The Marketing Coordinator supports the Somali Family Safety Task Force (SFSTF) by leading marketing, outreach, and promotional activities that strengthen community engagement, elevate the organization's visibility, and increase the reach of SFSTF's communications, books, and publications. This role plays a key part in event planning, storytelling, and connecting the organization's mission to the broader community. The ideal candidate is creative, organized, culturally responsive, and passionate about uplifting immigrant and refugee communities. Key Responsibilities Social Media and Marketing Development Develop and implement marketing strategies, manage social media platforms, and create promotional content Create culturally relevant content for social media, newsletters, flyers, and community announcements. Maintain and update SFSTF's website and digital platforms with current events, resources, and publications. Support branding efforts to ensure consistent messaging across all communication channels. Track engagement metrics and adjust strategies to increase visibility and reach. Volunteer and Resources Development Recruit, train and Coordinate volunteers Identify and cultivate resources, partnerships, and sponsorships Event Planning Coordinate and manage community events, workshops, training and fundraising activities Develop promotional materials and outreach plans to increase event attendance. Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure successful event execution. Support onsite event coordination, including setup, registration, and community engagement. Community Engagement and Development Build Relationships with community members partners, conduct outreach activities, and increase participation in programs and services Conduct outreach to promote SFSTF services, programs, and publications. Represent SFSTF at community events, tabling opportunities, and outreach activities. Gather community feedback to inform marketing strategies and program improvements. Sales & Distribution of Publications Promote and sell SFSTF books, communications materials, and other publications at events and through online platforms. Manage inventory, track sales, and coordinate restocking of materials. Develop marketing campaigns to increase awareness and distribution of SFSTF publications. Support partnerships with bookstores, libraries, schools, and community organizations to expand reach. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or related field; or equivalent experience. 1-3 years of experience in marketing, community outreach, event planning, or communications. Experience working with immigrant, refugee, or East African communities strongly preferred. Skills & Competencies Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to create engaging, culturally responsive content. Experience with social media platforms, Canva, Mailchimp, or similar tools. Strong organizational and project management skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, community‑centered environment. Comfort with public speaking and community engagement. Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends for events. Work Environment Hybrid role with a combination of office, community, and event‑based work. Requires occasional lifting of materials (up to 25 lbs.) for event setup. Regular interaction with diverse community members, partners, and stakeholders. Pay:
$25.00 - $28.00 per hour
