Full Job Description Position Summary:
Missionary Mom The Missionary Mom serves as a caregiver, mentor, and role model for girls living in a Christian group home setting. This role is essential to creating a safe, structured, and loving environment where girls in foster care can heal, grow, and thrive. Guided by Christian values, the Missionary Mom fosters spiritual development, teaches life skills, and provides consistent daily support to residents while ensuring the home operates in full compliance with state licensing and DHR standards. The Missionary Mom lives on-site and works a rotating schedule that includes both morning and overnight shifts. This is a mission-driven position that honors the legacy and heart of Grace House's founder—offering a unique opportunity to serve girls in foster care and help guide them toward becoming confident, respectful, and responsible young women.
Key Responsibilities:
Spiritual Leadership Model Christ-like behavior and provide spiritual mentorship to residents Lead daily devotionals and facilitate church attendance and faith-based activities Create an environment where girls feel safe to explore and express their faith Daily Living and Care Provide structure and supervision throughout the day, including morning and evening routines Ensure that meals, hygiene, chores, homework, and recreational activities are completed consistently and in compliance with DHR and Grace House guidelines Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming home environment Provide transportation for residents to appointments, school, extracurricular activities, and ministry events Show hospitality to guests and visitors, reflecting the mission and values of the home and organization Mentorship and Guidance Build positive, trusting relationships with each resident Support residents emotionally through active listening, encouragement, and appropriate discipline Teach and model basic life skills such as cooking, laundry, budgeting, conflict resolution and time management Compliance and Documentation Maintain compliance with all DHR (Department of Human Resources) licensing standards, policies, and procedures Accurately complete documentation such as daily logs, incident reports, medication records, and behavioral notes Maintain confidentiality of all resident information in accordance with
HIPAA, DHR
regulations, and organizations policy Participate in inspections, audits, and required trainings as mandated by DHR and the organization Administrative and Operational Duties Manage household budgets, ensuring funds are spent responsibly and tracked accurately Maintain inventory of household supplies and submit requests for needed items Responsible for van upkeep, including scheduling regular maintenance, keeping the van clean, and reporting any issues promptly Check work emails regularly to stay informed and responsive to communication from supervisors and staff Report maintenance needs or safety concerns related to the home to the Residential Program Director Health and Safety Maintain current CPR and First Aid certification as required by state and agency standards Promote and uphold a safe and secure environment within the home for all residents and staff Administer basic first aid when necessary and follow emergency procedures appropriately Participate in safety drills and training as scheduled Ensure all medications are secured and administered according to policy Immediately report any incidents or concerns to appropriate staff and follow incident reporting procedures Team Collaboration Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and planning sessions Work collaboratively with case managers, therapists, and the broader residential team Communicate effectively with supervisory staff regarding resident needs and concerns
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor's degree preferred Experience working with youth, preferably in foster care, residential, or ministry settings Must be at least 25 years of age Strong commitment to Christian faith and willingness to lead youth in spiritual development Ability to pass all background checks and complete required DHR and agency trainings Strong interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, and organizational skills

Must be willing to live on-site for several days at a time and work scheduled shifts, which may include overnights, weekends, and holidays , as the needs of the home and residents require. Ability to manage stressful or crisis situations while maintaining calm, compassionate, and trauma-informed responses. Physically able to perform household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and organizing, and to participate fully in youth activities , modeling healthy engagement for residents.
