Purpose and Scope:
to support the Diocese of Phoenix in its mission in service of the Body of Christ. This position oversees the preparation and leadership of our youth ministry programs. The Coordinator will serve as a strong example to teens and the parish community, and must be someone who understands the dynamics of evangelization, conversion, and discipleship. The Coordinator must have good social skills, be familiar with typical youth ministry programs, and comply with Diocesan Safe Environment requirements. Additionally, this staff member will help teens discover their charisms and serve the parish as a fully-initiated member. The person in this role should actively network with the leaders in the parish to find ways to safely plug teens into serving in many aspects of the parish. Essential Job Functions specific to this position: Plan and Execute Life Teen and EDGE nights during the semester Recruit, Train and Support Core Members Plan Dinners once a week (preferably with volunteer support) Gather supplies and items needed for formation nights and events Be open to provide Bible Studies Plan at least one Life Teen retreat and one EDGE retreat (open to collaboration with other parishes) Recruit, Train and Support Core Members Administrative work (i.e. creating forms, documentation for finances for camp and bus, brainstorming and writing content of retreat, etc.) Ensure all students in grades 6-12 are prepared for Sacraments of Initiation Ensure students have compiled all necessary documents to be recorded in our sacramental records book Coordinate weekly meetings for students enrolled in Sacrament Prep Coordinate retreats for Sacrament Prep Students Communication Show success at networking with others to collaborate on larger projects Communicate clearly weekly via Flocknote emails to all Families in EDGE, Life Teen, and Sacrament Preparation, including bulletin announcements Assist Coordinator of Religious Education in preparation, training of volunteers, and leading through Vacation Bible School cycle Safe Environment Training forTeens Requirements:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Continued training and certification in the field of Youth Ministry and Formation. Working experience with Microsoft Office software including Word and Publisher. Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously and handle stressful situations. Ability to make decisions in a timely manner and communicate effectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to set priorities and organize work effectively. Ability to maintain confidentiality.Minimal Qualifications:
Education requirements: A degree in theology, religious education, catechetics, or a related field is preferred; will consider 4-5 years of equivalent experience with HS Diploma.
