Position Summary:
The Liturgy Assistant provides administrative and programmatic support to the Liturgy and Music Department at St. Joseph Center. This role assists with the preparation, coordination, and execution of liturgical celebrations and music ministry by managing calendars, preparing worship materials, coordinating volunteers, and supporting liturgical planning. The Liturgy Assistant works collaboratively with the Director of Liturgy and Music, liturgical ministers, and other staff to ensure the smooth preparation of liturgical celebrations that reflect the mission and values of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Orange.
Essential Functions:
This position is not limited to the essential functions listed below. Other projects and duties may be assigned. Liturgical Coordination
- Maintain and update ministry schedules for lectors, presiders, homilists, and Eucharistic ministers.
- Coordinate and distribute liturgy calendars on a regular basis.
- Assist with preparation of worship aids, presider scripts, and liturgical materials.
- Support the preparation of seasonal and special liturgical celebrations. Administrative Support
- Maintain liturgy planning documents and departmental calendars.
- Assist with email communication and correspondence related to liturgical ministries.
- Take notes and provide follow-up support for monthly Liturgy Committee meetings. Music Ministry Support
- Assist with preparation of choir materials and music binders.
- Support seasonal music preparation, including handbells and other liturgical music resources.
- Assist with music notation preparation using Sibelius or other software (training provided as needed). Event and Facilities Support
- Coordinate with outside service providers (e.g., piano tuner).
- Assist with chapel preparation and setup for liturgies and events.
- Support movement and setup of liturgical equipment when needed.

Minimum Education Requirements:
High School Diploma required. Additional coursework or training in liturgy, theology, music or ministry preferred.
Minimum Experience Requirements:
Familiarity with Catholic worship and the structure of the Mass strongly preferred. Previous administrative or program coordination experience preferred.

Work Schedule:
Full-time , 30 hours per week Monday-Friday, with occasional evening or weekend availability as needed for liturgical celebrations.
