Job Description

Description:
The Director of Family and Youth Faith Formation supports the parish vision to empower and equip parents as first catechists of their children and foster a culture within our diverse parish for families to encounter Jesus personally and lead them to become Active Apostles who are confident in sharing the good news of God's love to the community. The Director of Family and Youth Faith Formation is a member of the larger Family Formation Team and works collaboratively with Sacred Heart School, parish ministries, and the broader parish community to accomplish our parish vision. The position has an emphasis on administering, planning, implementing, supporting and evaluating family-based formation, parent-led sacramental preparation programs, and youth offerings for Sacred Heart families, both Hispanic and Anglo, with children from birth through adulthood.
Requirements:
Practicing Catholic and faithful to the Magisterium of the Church with a love for the Eucharist; Recognizes and supports parents as first catechists; understands the diversity of family structures and develops parish programming that works in partnership with parents and the domestic church; Outgoing, visible and well-disposed to meeting parishioners; Exemplary communications and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work well with adults and youth; Ability to work collaboratively with all parish staff and parish leaders, as a team member in the Family Faith Formation Office and on the larger Formation Team, as well as parishioner volunteers; High energy with initiative for implementation of new ideas and continuous improvement; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to delegate appropriately to others; Compliance with the Diocesan Safe Environment (VIRTUS) process; oversee Virtus training for all volunteers. It is helpful to become a facilitator to help volunteers who may not speak English well or do not have computers. Excellent computer and technology skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint. High comfort level with internet, website usage and common social media platforms; Available evenings and weekends as needed to support family formation programs, parish events, and sacramental celebrations; Recognizes and respects the diversity of culture within the parish and community; Appreciates the unique character and role of the parish community of faith, and is adaptable to changing structures and leadership roles; Bachelor's degree in Catholic Theology, Evangelization and Catechesis, pastoral ministry, Certificate in Religious Education, or Diocesan Catechetical training/certification. Relevant experience in a leadership role in Catholic faith formation will be considered. Fluency in Spanish, written and oral, is required
