SPIRITUAL COUNSELOR

Location/Department:

Hospice Part time - 24 hours per pay period

Job Summary:

Provide care/activities related to the physical, psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual needs related to the terminal illness to promote the patient's well-being, comfort, and dignity throughout the dying process, as well as support for the patients' families and Hospice team members.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

None Duties/Responsibilities:

Demonstrates competencies for all populations served Assesses patient/family spiritual needs Provides on-going spiritual support/guidance to patients & families May conduct or make arrangements for funerals & memorial services Knowledgeable of grieving process & psychosocial ramifications Coordinates with other pastors Participates in IDG Coordinates with other disciplines Submits documentation timely according to departmental requirements Submits accurate documentation that reflects the actual day, time, & services provided All other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

Strong verbal, written, & listening communication skills Must be able to operate a computer, copier, phone, & automobile

Education and Experience:

Minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent majoring in Psychology, Theology, or related field preferred A minimum of 1 year related work experience required

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
