The position is a part time position averaging approximately 20 hours/week in building. The hours for the religious school are Sundays, 10 AM-12:15 PM and Tuesdays 4:15-6:15. The salary range is 40-50K based on experience. B'Nei Mitzvah tutoring may be available and negotiated as a separate entity as appropriate. Instructional Leadership Recommend with the President(s), Vice President of Education, and head of the Education Committee on the selection of religious school teaching staff Supervise and support religious school teaching staff responsible for the provision of educational programming. Under the supervision of and in collaboration with the Rabbi while keeping the Vice President of the Education Committee and CBSBH leadership appropriately informed, ensure effective curriculum, programming, and instruction for all aspects of educational activities. Prepare educational materials in cooperation with teaching staff and in consultation with Rabbi while keeping the Vice President of Education and head of the Education Committee appropriately informed. Supervise, coordinate, and compile teacher lesson plans, observe classes and evaluate teaching staff. Plan, attend and assist with school-wide programming including the Religious School class led Shabbat services and other holiday and special events. Attend services on any holiday designated as a youth/family Religious School service. Teach one grade level class per semester. Recruit, supervise and plan programming for madrachim/student aides Create and maintain a list of qualified substitute teachers and supervise substitute teachers as required. Take the role of substitute teacher when needed. Administration Prior to the start of the school year, establish a calendar for the school year in coordination with the Rabbi, CBSBH leadership, the Education Committee and CBSBH office staff. Coordinate and oversee school registrations in coordination with the CBSBH office staff. Maintain proper record keeping, including allocation, tracking of school fundraisers and up to date enrollment. With input from the teachers, create and send two personalized student progress reports (midyear and end of year) to parents. Communicate with families regarding student progress and attendance as needed. Arrange and facilitate Religious School staff meetings with a suggested number of 4 occurring throughout the year. Participate in the broader CBSBH staff meetings Once a month provide the VP of Education Committee monthly report of school attendance, program updates (both past and present), school needs and areas of concerns. Attend meetings of the Education Committee and provide management and support to implement their goals. Work with the Education Committee to engage volunteers to benefit the school community. Write articles for the CBSBH bulletin in both fall and spring issues updating the congregation of religious school happenings. Communicate and coordinate with families regarding school programming, parental involvement and education using such tools as email, social media and regular mail as needed.
