DESCRIPTION
Provide comprehensive ministry to young people in Grades 6-12, including Coordinating the Confirmation Program and facilitating their spiritual, social and emotional growth as active disciples of Christ. This includes ( but is not limited to ) program planning, organizing social, spiritual and service-related sessions, promoting community and belonging, fostering on-going Faith Formation, collaborating with parents, scheduling and publicizing ministries and events, recruiting and training volunteers, and building direct pastoral relationships with both public and private school youth. In addition, responsibilities include: Work collaboratively with the Director of Discipleship, and other Formation and Liturgy Staff as needed; attend all expected staff meetings and activities. Be present where needed, ready to work to meet responsibilities and during all scheduled hours. Includes recognizing when situations require more effort, putting in more time if needed, satisfying responsibilities in a timely manner, providing an example of punctuality and attendance, and generally ensuring all work assigned is taken care of in a professional and responsible manner. Must develop, organize, implement and supervise ministries for youth in grades 6-12 to include: Recruiting, training, and leading a Core Team of youth and adults to set the ministry direction and desired outcomes. ( Longer term goal .) Recruit, train and schedule catechists for Confirmation and lead programming, including sessions with candidates, parents and sponsors. Coordinate registration for Confirmation. Direct and facilitate Confirmation retreat. Organize sacramental record information for parish office. Adhere to all Virtus and other Archdiocesan requirements. Act as an advocate for middle and high school youth in parish matters. Plan, advertise and execute social, service and catechetical activities with and for youth. Publicize and communicate with parents and parishioners about the purpose and focus in ministry areas. Ensure appropriate confidentiality in all matters relating to ministry and parish business. Qualifications Include :
Bachelors' degree and/or background in Religious Studies/Theology/Education and experience with Gr. 6-12 youth and families preferred. Must have a passion for guiding the faith development of youth and families clearly, persuasively, and joyfully. Knowledgeable and experienced in Faith Formation and/or Youth Ministry and the sacramental practices of the Catholic Church; Roman Catholic Liturgy, traditions and rituals. Proficient and effective spoken and written communication skills including digital communications and comfort with public speaking. Demonstrate effective and collegial work with others, particularly youth. Demonstrate ability to be organized, make decisions and work without supervision. Able to teach, direct and supervise others.
