Director of Young Children's Ministry White Memorial Presbyterian Church Raleigh, NC Job Details Part-time From $36,000 a year 1 day ago Benefits Paid time off Qualifications Religious organization childcare experience Program design Program management Volunteer management Education Organizational skills Lesson planning Teaching experience with young children Full Job Description Job Summary The Director of Young Children's Ministry organizes and coordinates a variety of activities for children ages birth through the Kindergarten year in the church. Work includes overseeing the enlistment of volunteer teachers and staff, supervising the young children's Sunday school activities, and organizing and conducting workshops for their teachers. Work may include program design and development for the nursery and preschool/kindergarten divisions.
Essential Functions:
Plans Sunday School programs for younger children including overseeing recruitment of caregivers and teachers, development of curriculum and resources, training of volunteer staff, direct participation or teaching of classes, and problem solving and administrative support of the programs. Provides a ministry of presence on Sunday mornings for children, families of children, and children's ministry volunteers. Oversees the utilization of bulletin boards in younger children's classrooms and some in hallways of the Education Building. Develops and strengthens ties with families, parents, and guardians of younger children. Prepares budget requests and forwards to supervisor for input into total education budget. Plans and rehearses activities for special programs and services for younger children. Attends staff meetings and some presbytery support functions for younger children. Encourages and enables involvement of younger children in the total ministry of the church through programs and activities. Serves as a staff support to Growing Families diaconate team. Oversees nursery childcare during worship services. Occasionally leads Chapel for WDS (at WDS Director's request) and Children's Time in Sunday worship. Maintains supply closets and resource materials for volunteer staff for younger children.

Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation from a four year college or university with a major in education, psychology, or related field and experience in planning and organizing children's programs in a church environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay:
From $36,000.00 per year

Paid time off Application Question(s): Do you have at least five years of professional experience working with children from birth through kindergarten? Do you have professional experience serving in a Presbyterian Church (USA) congregation or ministry setting and a working knowledge of PC(USA) theology and practices? Are you proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and able to use them independently for communication, scheduling, reporting, and curriculum preparation? Do you have experience working with and supporting children with special needs and their families in an educational, childcare, or ministry setting? Are you able to perform the essential functions of this position, including regularly lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds and transporting supplies up and down stairs Are you available to be present on at least 80% of Sunday mornings throughout the year to support volunteers, welcome families, and oversee young children's ministry programming? Are you able to sit on the floor, stand back up unassisted, and actively engage with infants, toddlers, and preschool-aged children during classroom activities, with or without reasonable accommodation? Do you have at least two years of experience recruiting, training, supervising, or coaching volunteers and/or nursery staff who work with young children?
