Job Overview The Missionary is responsible for promoting the mission of the Church through evangelization, community outreach, and spiritual formation. This role involves engaging with parishioners and the wider community, including non-Churchgoers to foster a relationship with Jesus Christ and encourage participation in the life of the Church. The person in this role will report to the Hub Director and in collaboration with the Pastor and the Strategy Office.
Key Responsibilities Evangelization:
Actively seek to draw others into personal friendship with Jesus in the life of the Church through various means, including one-on-one accompaniment, small groups and larger programming. Identify, form and equip practicing Catholics for missionary outreach to those outside of the Church. Organize and lead events and initiatives that reach out to those outside the Church and provide "on ramps" within the parish to welcome them.
Community Engagement:
Build relationships with local organizations, schools, and community groups to promote collaboration and outreach. Identify the needs of the Parish and develop programs to address those needs, particularly among marginalized populations. Spiritual Formation Provide a cadence of prayer for all activities Facilitate workshops, retreats, and study groups to enhance the spiritual growth of parishioners. Assist in the preparation of individuals for sacraments, providing guidance and support throughout the process.
Volunteer Coordination:
Collaborate with Service Coordinator for various parish ministries and outreach programs. Foster a spirit of service and community involvement among parishioners.
Communication:
Collaborate with Communications Coordinator to maintain effective communication with parishioners about upcoming events, programs, and opportunities for involvement. Use Parish Bulletins, social media, and announcements to keep the community informed and engaged.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the parish staff, councils, and committees to align efforts with the parish mission and goals. Participate in regular meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and new initiatives. Quali?cations Bachelor's degree in Theology, Communications, Marketing, Nonpro?t Management, or a related ?eld (or equivalent experience). Strong understanding of Catholic teachings and practices. Bi-lingual (Spanish) is required. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Experience in community outreach, education, or pastoral ministry preferred. Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting. A proactive and compassionate attitude towards serving others. Knowledge of or experience in mission work and alignment with the teachings of the Catholic Church. Excellent organizational and project management skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
