Weekday Sacristan Archdiocese of Philadelphia - 3.6 Philadelphia, PA Job Details Part-time 1 day ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description Weekday Sacristan (Part-Time, Hourly) Saint John Vianney Parish - Gladwyne, PA Saint John Vianney Parish is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Weekday Sacristan to support the daily liturgical life of the parish. This role is operationally critical—if this person is weak, the liturgy suffers immediately.
Schedule Monday-Friday:
7:00 AM - 10:00 AM (approx. 15 hours/week) Flexibility required for funerals and special liturgies Position Overview The sacristan ensures that all weekday liturgies are prepared with precision, reverence, and consistency. This role also supports the care, organization, and security of the church and sacristy spaces. Key Responsibilities Prepare and set up for daily Mass, funerals, and weekday liturgies Assist during liturgical celebrations as needed Open and close the church daily Maintain sacristies, vessels, vestments, and liturgical books Ensure cleanliness and order of liturgical spaces Monitor inventory (hosts, wine, candles, incense, etc.) Provide a welcoming and attentive presence in the church Support general facility care and security Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Practicing Roman Catholic with understanding of liturgical norms Strong attention to detail and reliability Organized and able to manage multiple tasks Willingness to learn liturgical procedures and terminology Professional demeanor aligned with Catholic values Education High School Diploma required; college preferred Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and navigate stairs Additional Requirements Must be at least 18 years old Background check and Safe Environment clearances required
