Ingomar United Methodist Church in Pittsburgh, PA is currently recruiting to fill the position of Director of Discipleship and Engagement . This is a full-time exempt, salaried position. Starting salary will be $57,000 - $62,000 depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include health insurance for the employee, paid vacation and sick time, and company contributions towards a 403(b) retirement savings program.
Overview:
The Director of Discipleship and Engagement provides strategic leadership for the spiritual growth and development of individuals at Ingomar Church. This role is responsible for developing and overseeing pathways that help people grow in their relationship with Jesus Christ, build meaningful community, and actively participate in the life and mission of the church. This role is the primary leader of Ingomar's Adult Ministries, and will oversee the areas of Youth Ministry, Children's Ministry, and Connect Ministry. In addition, this position collaborates with the Mission Outreach committee in coordinating opportunities for mission and service.
Primary Responsibilities include:
1. Develop and lead a comprehensive strategy for discipleship and spiritual growth across the congregation, with a specific focus on adult ministries. 2. Oversee and strengthen adult small groups and discipleship initiatives. Recruit, develop, and empower group leaders to build up followers of Christ. 3. Create clear opportunities for individuals to grow in faith, community, and service. 4. Create a culture of collaboration between Children's, Youth, and Adult ministries, with a focus on faith development and engagement of all ages. 5. Partner with the Member & Guest Experience Coordinator to ensure guests experience meaningful welcome, connection, and next steps. Develop systems and strategies that move people from first-time guests to active participants in the life of the church. 6. Serve as staff liaison to the Missions Outreach Committee. Collaborate with the committee to coordinate regular service projects and missions opportunities throughout the year. 7. Support ministry leaders in volunteer recruitment and training. 8. In collaboration with supervised staff, develop and manage the budgets for Children's, Youth, Adult, and Connect ministries. 9. Complete any other duties assigned consistent with the purpose of the position.
Expectations and Qualifications Include:
Must share and support the Christian values of Ingomar United Methodist Church and be an effective witness for Jesus Christ. Bachelor's degree in a related field of expertise or equivalent experience preferred. Must be compliant with all applicable state and federal clearances This position is expected to be present during Sunday morning worship times, except for pre-approved vacation times. Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple ministry areas and priorities effectively. Ability to listen and communicate effectively with people of all ages Familiarity with United Methodist doctrine and practices is preferred. UMC Deacons are encouraged to apply.
