Director of Childrens Ministries

Job Summary Faith Church Kingstowne is a growing, gospel-centered church in Alexandria, Virginia, seeking a Director of Children's Ministry to lead and strengthen our ministry to children from birth through 5th grade. We are looking for a warm, positive, organized, and spiritually mature leader who loves children, enjoys working with families, and can build and encourage volunteer teams. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape a joyful, safe, and Christ-centered ministry in a church that is experiencing growth, especially among young families. What You'll Do

• Lead all aspects of Children's Ministry, including nursery, preschool, and elementary environments.
• Oversee the Sunday morning children's ministry experience from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
• Create a safe, joyful, fun, and gospel-centered environment where children are known, loved, and taught God's Word.
• Coordinate Sunday School and support teachers and volunteers with the resources they need.
• Recruit, train, schedule, and encourage volunteers serving in Nursery, Sunday School, and Children's Church.
• Build strong relationships with parents through warm hospitality, clear communication, and consistent follow-up.
• Coordinate curriculum (Gospel Project - print & digital), weekly WOW factor, games, crafts, activities, etc.
• Plan and lead special events and family ministry opportunities throughout the year.
• Maintain high standards of safety and care, including compliance with Ministry Safe.
• Work closely with church leadership to align Children's Ministry with the overall mission of the church. What We're Looking For

• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to recruit, train, schedule, and motivate volunteers.
• Experience working with children and families in a ministry, educational, or related setting.
• Comfortable in a digital world, working with computer, digital, video, audio, content management, database management (Planning Center Online).
• Prefer at least 3 years of leadership or management experience in a church, school, or professional environment.
• A teachable, flexible, team-oriented spirit. Schedule and Weekly Rhythm
• Up to 10-12 hours per week preparing Sunday morning materials and programming for ages 1 through 5th grade.
• Approximately 5 hours on Sunday mornings leading the children's ministry environment, supporting volunteers, welcoming families, and helping in classrooms as needed.
• Approximately 5 additional hours per week planning and coordinating one monthly family or children's ministry event, along with communication and volunteer coordination.
• Participation in a monthly committee meeting.
