Job Description

Catholic Coordinator of Religious Education Beaufort, SC Part-time, Contract Part-time, Contract The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following: 1.
Scope:
A Catholic Coordinator of Education (CCE) services is required to provide religious education coordination to the Catholic community of faith at MCAS Chapel, Beaufort, SC. Hiring a Catholic Coordinator of Education will provide Christian education for children, youth and adults key to spiritual growth and development. 2.
Service to be provided:
2.1 The contractor shall provide CCE and Single Marines Program services necessary to support Catholic Religious Education Programs (CREP) as an integral part of the mission and responsibilities of the Command Religious Program (CRP).
The services shall include:
2.1.1 The CCE shall coordinate the delivery of religious education and methods consistent with the cultural and educational environment of the Marine and Navy communities under the supervision and evaluation of the Catholic Priest. The CCE shall advise the Catholic Priest on programs, methods and their usage that are necessary to meet or improve the religious educational needs of families and single active duty service members of the MCAS Beaufort Catholic community. The CCE must support the Catholic Priest in his capacity as Director of Religious Education in having final decisions for the content of Catholic religious programs. 2.1.2 Review religious education materials and make recommendations to the Catholic Priest for providing an adult and youth CREP from pre-school through high school ages. 2.1.3 Design, prepare and coordinate curriculum for classes and academic-religious events for the Catholic community that are observed throughout the year. Traditional CREP include but are not limited to: Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) for children grades K-8, High School Confirmation program and monthly High School Religious Education courses, preparation for First Communion, First Reconciliation, Confirmation, Baptism, and Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. 2.1.4 Provide continuous leadership development for all Catholic religious education teachers including their recruitment, training, and assessment. 2.1.5 Coordinate all Catholic workshops, teachers' meetings, and parental conferences throughout the year. 2.1.6 Maintain statistical records necessary to document the number of students in attendance, cost of materials, personal records and other records necessary for the program. 2.1.7 Coordinate scheduling and allocation of spaces used for
CREP. 2.1.8
Prepare and submit a religious education budget no later than June for each subsequent fiscal year. 2.1.9 Coordinate with the RP's to order supplies that meet the needs to the Catholic community through the use of Appropriated Funds. 2.1.10 Monitor the receipt, distribution, and utilization of all Catholic religious education materials and supplies. Account for expenditures within budget requirements to include curriculum materials, audio-visual aids, equipment, and other supplies for classrooms and offices. 2.1.11 Prepare publicity of CREP and events through memoranda, bulletins and other available media resources on base. 2.1.12 Train and coordinate a team for the Children's Liturgy of the Word program 2.1.13 Liaison with the CRP to execute Chapel outreach programs that are not faith specific. 2.1.14 Attend Parish Council meetings and recruit new Parish Council Members, develop and publish a Parish Council Agenda, record and publish Parish Council minutes and maintain a record of all Parish Council Meetings. 2.1.15 Organize various types of Fellowships throughout the year as well as special occasions, i.e. First Communion, Confirmation, as well as designated holidays. 3.
Qualifications:
3.1 Possess an Associate's Degree or have a minimum of one year experience as a religious education teacher. Experience in the management of a large, multi-session religious education program for adults and children is preferred. 3.2 Experience working with military leadership or attending a military chapel is favorable. 3.3 Must be sensitive to religious pluralism and be able to work alongside diverse religious beliefs. 3.4 Ability to mentor and develop leaders. 3.5 Ability to multitask and adapt to changing schedules. 3.6 Managerial, organizational and leadership ability commensurate with responsibility for and administration of a complete religious education and sacramental preparation program. 3.7 An excellent working knowledge/agreement with the doctrines, ideas, liturgy, sacraments, history, customs and organization the Roman Catholic Church. 4.
Point of Contact:
The Command Chaplain will be the Contracting Officer's technical representative for the supervision of this contract. Contact information to be provided upon contract award. 5.
Hours:
This position is not to exceed fourteen hours weekly, based on an annual calendar of activity that may have seasonal variation. The CCE is expected to be present on Sunday Morning, weekly staff meetings on Monday and have a flexible weekday schedule, that can vary week to week, but no more than 14 hours. 6.
General Information:
The contractor shall perform these duties at Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort, South Carolina using Government facilities, equipment and materials appropriate to the religious education program. Access to Government network systems via Government computer equipment requires compliance with the process of access approval specified by Marine Corps Order

Appendix C. Approval for access is a mandatory requirement for this contract position. 7.
Special Invoice Instructions:
The contractor shall submit monthly invoices not later than the twenty-sixth day of each month after completion of services; noting on each invoice the total amount of the invoice, period covered, and purchase order number. 8. Deductions from
Contractor Pay:
Social Security, state, local, and federal taxes shall be paid by the contractor who shall have no further claim on the Government beyond salary as specified by this contract. 9.
Fees:
The contractor shall not receive any additional fees for services rendered under this contract. 10.
Absences:
The CCE as an independent contractor with the Marine Corps shall, after consultation with the Command Chaplain and Catholic Priest (or his/her designated representative), and with his/her written concurrence, provide a qualified substitute to render services specified in this contract whenever it is necessary for the contractor to be absent. The contractor shall limit these absences to five requests per year. The contractor is responsible to provide any and all compensation to their substitute for any work that is performed. Absence without an adequate substitute may be cause for breach of contract. 11.
