Job Description The Director of Family Ministries leads a church-wide effort to foster Christian faith and discipleship in the children and youth of St. John's. The DFM works with church leaders to create mature disciples of Christ, with Biblical knowledge, practices of prayer and worship, and a desire to love and serve their neighbors in Jesus's name. The DFM is the primary children's minister for the church, resourcing programs from infancy to grade 5. He or she collaborates with and may supervise the Youth Minister, who guides youth programs for grades 6-12. The DFM also supervises nursery workers, interns, and collaborates with committees and teams of dedicated volunteers. Children's ministries at St. John's include Nursery, Sunday School, Children's Chapel, Wednesday evening programs, Vacation Bible School, Kanuga retreat, and many special events for children. Children and their families are a significant element in our parish community. St. John's is a program-size church near downtown Columbia with an average Sunday attendance of 255.
