Position Summary The Assistant Director of Youth & Young Adult Ministries serves alongside the Director of Youth Ministries in developing and leading ministry for middle school students, high school students, college students, and young adults. The primary focus of this position is relationship-building, discipleship, volunteer leadership, and creating opportunities for students and young adults to grow in faith and connection to the church. ResponsibilitiesYouth Ministry Assist in planning and leading youth ministry programming for middle and high school students. Maintain a consistent presence at weekly youth gatherings, Sunday programming, retreats, mission opportunities, and special events. Build meaningful relationships with students and their families. Assist in recruiting, equipping, and supporting volunteer leaders. Partner with the Director of Youth Ministries and Youth Ministry Committee to foster spiritual growth and discipleship among students. College & Young Adult Ministry Develop and strengthen relationships with SHPC college students and young adults. Create opportunities for fellowship, discipleship, service, and community among young adults ages 18-25. Maintain connections with students attending college both locally and away from Knoxville. Build relationships with local campus ministries, including ministries at the University of Tennessee and Maryville College. Help young adults become actively engaged in the worship, fellowship, discipleship, and service ministries of SHPC. Church Participation Participate regularly in Sunday worship and church-wide events. Attend weekly staff meetings and collaborate with church staff and ministry leaders. Support the mission and ministry of SHPC through teamwork, professionalism, and servant leadership. Adhere to all church policies, including Safe Sanctuary guidelines. Qualifications A growing and active faith in Jesus Christ. A passion for youth, college, and young adult ministry. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills. Ability to work effectively with students, parents, volunteers, and church staff. Strong organizational and communication skills. Bachelor's degree preferred. Ministry experience preferred but not required. Familiarity with Presbyterian or Reformed theology is helpful but not required. Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and model Christian maturity. Compensation & Benefits Annual salary of $50,000. Full medical insurance coverage for the employee.
