Reporting to the Director of Intergenerational Ministries, this position provides leadership, care, and spiritual formation for tweens and their families through regular programming, special events, and intergenerational opportunities. This role requires a highly relational and engaged leader who is committed to helping students and families grow in faith, connection, and belonging within the church community. Responsibilities Serve as the primary leader and relational presence for tweens (grades 4-6), cultivating a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered community. Lead and facilitate weekly Sunday morning and Wednesday evening tween ministry programming. Participate as an active member of the Youth Ministry Operations Team, helping ensure that tween ministry programming reflects the culture, values, and discipleship philosophy of the church's youth ministry while remaining developmentally appropriate. Plan and lead all tween-specific events and retreats in collaboration with the Director of Intergenerational Ministries. Help recruit, equip, encourage, and schedule volunteers for tween ministry programming, events, and confirmation activities. Lead and coordinate the church's tween confirmation program, including mentor communication, extracurricular activities, retreats, and Confirmation Sunday preparation. Build trust and strong relationships with students and families through clear, consistent, and proactive communication, parent gatherings, hospitality, and opportunities for involvement in the life of the ministry. Actively engage in the life of the congregation through worship services, church-wide events, and intergenerational opportunities in order to build relationships and maintain a visible presence within the church community. Demonstrate reliability and ownership by communicating proactively about absences and ensuring appropriate volunteer or staff coverage for scheduled ministry responsibilities. Qualifications Embrace Christian discipleship and United Methodist theology. Passion for working with tweens and building age-appropriate spiritual development. Experience in ministry or education with children or youth preferred. Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate as part of a team and take initiative in leadership. Demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative team member. Fully engaged in the life of the congregation, fostering relationships across age groups. Schedule & Compensation Part-time ministry position with regular Sunday morning and Wednesday evening responsibilities, along with occasional special events, retreats, and meetings. Attendance and time-off expectations are outlined in the employee handbook. Weekly planning meeting with the Director of Intergenerational Ministries is required.
ACCOUNTABILITY
The Tween Ministry Coordinator reports to the Director of Intergenerational Ministries, who will give general oversight and direction. With all new employees, there will be a 30-day and 90-day evaluation, and then afterwards, annually.
